The Security Media Cell, the media arm of the Iraqi Joint Operations Command, said in a statement that after extensive legal investigations and hearing testimony from witnesses, “five individuals involved in this illegal act have been arrested.”
Earlier, Security Media Cell confirmed that on the evening of August 5, Ayn al-Asad base, in Anbar province, western Iraq, was hit by 2 missiles. On August 6, the Iraqi military condemned the attack, calling it a "reckless" act targeting the country's military bases, and said it had seized a truck carrying 8 missiles used to attack the airbase.
This is the third attack in just over three weeks targeting the Ain al-Assad base in western Iraq, which houses US troops as well as other personnel from the Washington-led coalition fighting the self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS) terrorist organization.
