The whole province has 866 families of meritorious people and martyrs' relatives who are eligible for housing support. In the photo: Leaders of the Department of Home Affairs inspect the housing situation of families of meritorious people in Thai Thuy district.
Participating in the resistance war against the American imperialists to save the country during the most difficult and fierce period, Mr. Do Cong Khanh, from Binh Thanh commune (Kien Xuong) experienced many life-and-death battles, almost lying on the battlefield. Currently, he is a meritorious person receiving allowances for resistance fighters infected with toxic chemicals. Due to poor health, for many years, Mr. Khanh himself has not been able to do heavy work, and his economic situation is extremely difficult. The level 4 house that he and his wife live in with their son built a long time ago, although renovated several times, has seriously degraded. When he was informed that he was eligible for financial support to rebuild a new house for people with meritorious services to the revolution, Mr. Khanh was very excited because his long-standing wish to rebuild a more solid and decent house was about to come true.
He confided: In 2024, I was informed by the commune officials that there was a project to support funding to build and repair houses for people with revolutionary contributions. Seeing that my family's house was too degraded, I registered. After that, the district's professional staff came to inspect and verify the current situation and assessed that the house I was living in was eligible for support to build a new house according to the province's project. I am very happy because the support funding will motivate my family to try to rebuild a new house that is more solid and sturdy, and construction is expected to start in March 2025.
Mr. Khanh's family is one of many families of people with revolutionary contributions in the province that have received financial support to build new or repair houses. Responding to the call for joint efforts to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide launched by the Prime Minister, on October 31, 2024, the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee issued Directive No. 38-CT/TU on strengthening leadership and direction to implement the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses in Thai Binh province; The Provincial Party Committee issued Decision No. 1327-QD/TU, dated November 4, 2024 on the establishment of a Steering Committee to implement the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses in the province, headed by the Provincial Party Secretary; The Provincial People's Committee issued Decision No. 92/QD-UBND dated January 20, 2025 approving the Project to support people with revolutionary contributions and martyrs' relatives in housing in Thai Binh province in 2025. The above policies demonstrate the drastic and timely participation of the entire political system to bring a better life to families of people with revolutionary contributions. With great efforts and determination, Thai Binh province strives to soon complete the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses for people with revolutionary contributions.
Ms. Dang Ngoc Hanh, Head of the Department of Meritorious People, Department of Home Affairs, said: The number of households eligible for housing support under the Project to support people with meritorious services to the revolution and relatives of martyrs in the province in 2025 is 866 households; of which 437 households need to build new houses and 429 households need to repair houses. The support level for households building new houses is 100 million VND/household and 50 million VND/household for repairing houses; the total expected support cost is over 65 billion VND. To date, 92 households have completed the construction of houses; of which 10 households have built new houses and 82 households have repaired houses; 327 households are under construction, of which 213 households have built new houses and 114 households have repaired houses.
Recently, concluding the third meeting of the Central Steering Committee on the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh , Head of the Steering Committee, emphasized: The elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide is a program of profound humanistic significance of our Party and State; showing gratitude to those with meritorious services and relatives of martyrs; it is also the spirit of great national unity, mutual love, national sentiment, compatriotism; it is a responsibility to the people.
Mr. Le Manh Cuong, Deputy Director of the Department of Home Affairs, said: Following the direction of the Government and the Prime Minister, Thai Binh province is taking action with great determination to strive to complete the set plan. We are stepping up propaganda to create social consensus so that all levels, sectors, organizations and all people support, share, and share responsibility, and join hands to help eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses for people with revolutionary contributions and relatives of martyrs in the province. Strengthen inspection and supervision of the implementation of housing support to ensure publicity, transparency, objectivity and compliance with the law. The Department also strengthens coordination with districts and cities to urge the remaining households to promptly start construction to ensure the completion of new construction and house repairs before June 30, 2025.
For many years, Mr. Do Cong Khanh's family in Binh Thanh commune (Kien Xuong) has lived in a seriously degraded house.
