The Ministry of Education and Training has received information and a response from the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, as well as checked the records in the archives of the Ministry of Education and Training more than a month ago, with initial information: Mr. Vuong Tan Viet's name was not on the list of candidates and the list of certificates for high school graduation in 1989 of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City.

Previously, on the morning of August 13, confirming with Dan Tri reporter, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City said that this unit had just sent a document reporting to the Government Committee for Religious Affairs and the Ministry of Home Affairs about verifying the high school diploma of Mr. Vuong Tan Viet.
Specifically, on July 30, 2024, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City had a working session with the inspection team of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs - Ministry of Home Affairs through a letter of introduction to verify the learning process of Mr. Vuong Tan Viet.
During the working session, the Department of Education and Training coordinated with the inspection team to review all records including the list of candidates who graduated from supplementary high school and the list of names and scores of all candidates who took the exam on June 6, 1989.
At the end of the inspection process, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City confirmed that the name Vuong Tan Viet (born in 1959) was not on the list of candidates and the score sheet of the 1989 high school supplementary graduation exam of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City.
Mr. Vuong Tan Viet recently caused a stir when he successfully defended his doctoral thesis at Hanoi Law University in a period of 2 years and 3 months.
Hanoi Law University affirmed that the total doctoral training time of student Vuong Tan Viet meets and complies with the doctoral training regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, and the school's decision.
The Ministry of Education and Training has sent an official dispatch requesting relevant units to report on the content related to Mr. Vuong Tan Viet's learning process.
According to Clause 3, Article 20 of Circular 08/2021/TT-BGDDT dated March 18, 2021 of the Ministry of Education and Training promulgating the Regulations on university training, it is stipulated that: "Students who use fake records, diplomas, and certificates as admission or graduation conditions will be forced to drop out of school; graduation diplomas, if already granted, will be revoked or canceled".
