*Pig price in the Northern region

In the Northern pig market, the purchase price is relatively stable.

Currently, traders in most localities trade live pigs at an average price of 65,000 VND/kg.

Only Phu Tho province implemented a slight increase of 1,000 VND/kg, raising the price of live pigs to the highest level of 66,000 VND/kg.

Today's live pig price in the North is around 64,000 - 66,000 VND/kg.

*Pig price in the Central Highlands region

The Central Highlands region witnessed a decrease in live pig prices of 1,000 - 2,000 VND/kg.

Accordingly, Quang Tri set a sharp reduction of 2,000 VND/kg, down to 61,000 VND/kg.

At the same time, after a slight decrease of 1,000 VND/kg, live pigs in the provinces of Thua Thien Hue, Quang Ngai, Khanh Hoa and Dak Lak were priced at around 61,000 - 62,000 VND/kg, depending on the area.

Currently, the price of live pigs in the Central and Central Highlands regions is around 61,000 - 64,000 VND/kg.

The price of live pigs has been constantly fluctuating, and the fear of disease attacks has caused many farmers and businesses in Ha Tinh to cautiously restore and increase their herds to serve the year-end market, Ha Tinh newspaper reported.

According to records, from April 2024 to now, after many periods of mixed increases and decreases, the price of live pigs in Ha Tinh is fluctuating around 63,000 - 65,000 VND/kg.

Although pig prices in the province are at a good level, they often fluctuate and are difficult to predict, making farmers cautious and not "aggressive" in restocking large-scale herds.

In addition to concerns about an unstable market, the pressure of disease at the time of the changing seasons also makes many livestock farmers and businesses worried when releasing livestock to serve the year-end market.

*Pig price in the Southern region

In the Southern region, the purchase price decreased by VND 1,000/kg in Dong Thap and Vinh Long, down to VND 62,000/kg.

The remaining provinces and cities continue to implement unchanged pig prices compared to the same time yesterday morning.

Currently, the purchase price in the South fluctuates between 62,000 - 65,000 VND/kg.

* US pork production is forecast to increase 3.1% in 2024 from 2023 to 12.8 million tons.

Since late January 2024, U.S. hog prices have increased relative to 2023. Average hog prices in May 2024 increased 19.5% year-over-year, but prices stabilized in July 2024. Wholesale pork prices in 2024 also trended up steadily relative to 2023. Rising belly, loin, and rib prices supported whole carcass values ​​through June 2024.

Stable prices and lower feed costs have resulted in good profits for farmers. According to Iowa State University (USA), the profit for pig farming operations in Iowa in May 2024 is 17.06 USD/head. Stable domestic and export demand is expected to keep prices high in the coming months.
