Closing ceremony of the 10th National Phu Dong Sports Festival 2024

Attending the ceremony were Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Thi Kim Chi; Vice Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee Le Khac Nam; representatives of leaders of units under the Ministry of Education and Training, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, departments, branches and sectors of Hai Phong City, along with athletes and coaches from 63 provinces and cities.

Reporting on the summary of the 10th National Phu Dong Sports Festival, Director of the Department of Education and Training of Hai Phong Bui Van Kiem said: After nearly 10 days of exciting and enthusiastic competition of the Phu Dong Sports Festival Phase II in Hai Phong city, student athletes have demonstrated their skills and sports qualities very well and achieved outstanding and impressive achievements. The Organizing Committee has awarded a total of 271 sets of medals to outstanding athletes in 15 events.

In addition to competing on the competition floor, athletes, students, teachers also have the opportunity to meet, exchange experiences in studying and life, especially creating a spread in the community about the movement of physical exercise to improve health, contributing to comprehensive education for students, the future generation of the country.

At the end of the National Phu Dong Sports Festival, the Organizing Committee ranked the achievements based on the medal tally. Accordingly, 10 units had the best achievements, 20 units had good achievements and 10 units, mountainous areas, and the Central Highlands were excellent. Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi City, and Hai Phong City ranked first, second, and third respectively for the whole delegation.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Thi Kim Chi commented: Phu Dong Sports Festival is a high school student sports festival held every four years to continue to maintain and promote the campaign "All people exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho", encourage and motivate high school students to regularly practice and compete in sports in school, improve health, develop physical fitness, and contribute to comprehensive education.

With the participation of more than 20,000 student athletes and officials from 63 provinces and cities across the country, competing in 15 sports in two stages, the 10th National Phu Dong Sports Festival is the largest ever, demonstrating the attention and support of local authorities at all levels for the education sector and at the same time a signal of the rapid growth of school sports.

“It can be affirmed that the 10th National Phu Dong Sports Festival has created a healthy, useful and interesting playground for students across the country, while helping them to enhance the spirit of solidarity, friendship, cooperation, and mutual assistance in life and is an opportunity for students to demonstrate their talents. The most important thing is that the students and athletes have had their best matches, demonstrating the highest team spirit, solidarity, and mutual exchange and learning. They have had sublime moments, beautiful moments, which will leave deep memories in their life journey”, the Deputy Minister emphasized.

On behalf of the Organizing Committee of the 10th National Phu Dong Sports Festival, Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Kim Chi acknowledged and commended the Departments of Education and Training, student athletes, coaches, and referees for upholding their sense of responsibility, making efforts, and implementing the rules and regulations, contributing to the success of the 10th National Phu Dong Sports Festival.

Along with that, the Deputy Minister of Education and Training expressed his gratitude to the leaders of the Party, State, ministries, departments and branches at the Central and local levels for their attention, support, companionship and coordination with the Ministry of Education and Training in the cause of education and especially the People's Committee of Hai Phong city in preparing and organizing the National Phu Dong Sports Festival successfully, ensuring safety, solemnity and truly being a sports festival for students.
