Bangladesh's newly appointed Prime Minister Muhammad Yunus is expected to arrive home on the afternoon of August 8 and his interim Cabinet will be sworn in that same evening.
The information was given by Bangladesh Army Commander-in-Chief Waker-Uz-Zaman at a press conference on August 7, a few days after the wave of student protests turned into a movement demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The commander-in-chief, who took charge of the country after Ms. Hasina was forced to resign and leave Bangladesh, said the swearing-in ceremony would take place at 8 p.m. local time on August 8 (9 p.m. Vietnam time). According to Mr. Waker-Uz-Zaman, the situation in the country will stabilize soon.
The interim government will likely consist of 15 members, he said, although there could be some minor changes. "Since this has not been officially announced, I will not go into further details," he said.

The Bangladesh army chief also thanked the students for taking over control of road traffic in the absence of police, and also cleaning up the streets after the riots.
"We are happy that they are doing this. I ask them to continue this work. We all want normal life to return," he said.
On August 5, Ms. Hasina - who has led the South Asian nation of 170 million people for 15 years - resigned and fled the country amid unrest. The Bangladeshi parliament was then dissolved on August 6 to form an interim government.
On August 7, economist Muhammad Yunus, who won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2006 with the Grameen Bank he founded, was appointed to lead an interim cabinet at the request of protesting students.
In his first statement since being appointed as the head of Bangladesh's interim government, Yunus on August 7 congratulated students for "taking the lead in making our second Victory Day a reality." He also called on the public, members of political parties, and others to remain calm.
"I look forward to going home and seeing what is going on there, and how we can organize ourselves to get out of the trouble we are in," he said, speaking to reporters in Paris.
Commander-in-Chief Waker-Uz-Zaman will personally receive Mr Yunus at the airport on August 8 when he returns to Dhaka from Paris.
