The province's e-commerce index is at a low average level compared to the whole country. The People's Committee of Lao Cai province expressed the hope that the Ministry of Industry and Trade and related units would consult and support the locality to remove bottlenecks, obstacles and perfect policies and mechanisms for e-commerce to develop more strongly.

Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan highly appreciated the speed of e-commerce development in Lao Cai province in recent times; at the same time, he said that Lao Cai has many advantages to promote e-commerce development.

According to the Deputy Minister, Lao Cai is a province in the midland and mountainous region of the North, located on the Kunming - Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong economic corridor and has a strategic position, being an important gateway for trade with China and ASEAN countries. In addition, with advantages in agricultural products, medicinal herbs and tourism, Lao Cai has great potential to develop e-commerce, especially cross-border e-commerce.

The Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade affirmed that the Ministry is always ready to coordinate and accompany Lao Cai and border localities to focus on solutions, remove difficulties in management policies and promote e-commerce development. The Ministry of Industry and Trade requested the People's Committee of Lao Cai province to continue to focus on promoting the application of digital technology, digital transformation, investment, development of logistics infrastructure, warehouses, electronic payments and cross-border e-commerce.

In addition, according to Deputy Minister Tan, Lao Cai province needs to coordinate with relevant units and logistics enterprises to build a convenient e-commerce customs clearance mechanism, apply digital solutions to supply chain management and promote international cooperation. It is necessary to continue promoting the good cooperative relationship between Lao Cai and Yunnan province (China), ASEAN and other potential markets to promote cross-border e-commerce development.
