Three days of operation, Nhon-Hanoi railway transports more than 100 thousand passengers

On August 11, the fourth day of the Nhon-Hanoi Railway Station elevated section being put into operation, many people continued to come to experience it. At many times, the number of passengers was so large that station staff had to issue paper tickets to quickly clear the passengers.

The Nhon-Hanoi Railway Station train was always packed with passengers during the first days of operation.

On Saturday, August 10, despite the hot weather in Hanoi, with outdoor temperatures reaching 37-38 degrees Celsius, from early morning until closing time, the train stations were always packed with people waiting to board the train. A representative of Hanoi Railway Company Limited said that on August 10, the Nhon-Hanoi Railway Station route, Nhon-Cau Giay section, welcomed a record number of passengers, up to 66,078. Previously, on August 8, this urban railway route welcomed about 34,000 passengers. On August 9, it welcomed more than 52,000 passengers. In addition to the number of people coming to experience and take photos to check-in, many workers, students and pupils immediately used this means of transport to travel to their places of study and work. Mr. Nguyen Van Hoa, residing in Minh Khai ward, Bac Tu Liem district, Hanoi shared: “I work in Cau Giay district, it takes me about 45 minutes to commute to work every day. Now I try the urban railway and it only takes me 15 minutes. In the near future, I will switch to this means of transport.” To serve the operation of the trains during this time, both the investor, the Hanoi Urban Railway Management Board (MRB), and the operator have mobilized hundreds of human resources including officers, engineers, train drivers, and dispatchers at eight stations of the elevated section to guide and serve people approaching the stations and boarding the trains. Currently, the trains operate at a frequency of 10 minutes per trip. Hanoi Metro leaders said that after three months of operation, the train frequency can be increased to 6 minutes per trip during rush hour. Mr. Vu Hong Truong, General Director of Hanoi Metro, said that with the ability to transport 15,000 to 20,000 passengers per hour, if the Nhon-Hanoi Railway operates at full capacity, it will greatly reduce the number of private vehicles traveling on National Highway 32 from Cau Giay to Nhon and vice versa.
