An Giang awarded more than 130 scholarships and gifts to help students go to school

According to the An Giang Provincial Federation of Labor, the Union Member and Labor Support Fund, formerly the Trade Union Social Fund, was established in 1995 and its name was adjusted from 2024, with the aim of mobilizing contributions and support from union members, workers, civil servants, and employees of agencies, units, and enterprises to contribute to the union organization in expanding social activities, performing the function of caring for and protecting the legitimate and legal rights and interests of union members and laborers, especially cadres, civil servants, public employees, and laborers in difficult circumstances.

From the mobilization fund, the Standing Committee of the An Giang Provincial Labor Federation and the Fund Management Board decided to annually allocate a portion of the budget to support scholarships named after President Ton Duc Thang - an outstanding son of An Giang, the founder of the Vietnam Trade Union to encourage the studious spirit of workers' children.

In the 2024-2025 school year, the An Giang Provincial Labor Federation has awarded 74 Ton Duc Thang scholarships with support levels of 1.5 million VND/scholarship for primary school; 2 million VND/scholarship for middle school; 2.5 million VND/scholarship for high school for children of union members and 59 "Tiep suc den truong" gifts with support levels of 700,000 VND/scholarship with a total amount of nearly 200 million VND.

Ton Duc Thang Scholarship is maintained and awarded to students who maintain their academic performance until they complete their education. Through 29 times of organization, An Giang Provincial Labor Federation has awarded over 2,000 scholarships with a total amount of nearly 2 billion VND.

In addition, in order to spread the spirit of "Mutual love and support", promptly support children of union members, workers, civil servants, and laborers in difficult circumstances before the new school year 2024 - 2025, the Standing Committee of the An Giang Provincial Labor Federation has directed the Trade Unions at all levels to mobilize authorities at all levels, units, businesses, and philanthropists to accompany, support scholarships, and give gifts to the children. Thereby, 100 million VND and 450 pairs of life jackets were mobilized for students in An Giang province.
