9 countries participate in the International Dance Festival

The festival brings together nearly 500 artists and actors from 17 art units, representing 9 countries: Philippines, China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Cambodia, Laos, United Arab Emirates and host country Vietnam.

The representative of the Organizing Committee said that the International Dance Festival - 2024 will be held every 3 years. The participants of the Festival are professional dance performing art units, representing regions and countries around the world and professional music and dance art units of Vietnam.

According to regulations, works participating in the festival are in the genres of short dance, dance poetry, dance suite, short dance drama and dance drama... in folk, classical, modern styles...

Works participating in the festival must be works of high artistic quality, expressing content, ideas and artistic images through elements such as: structure of the work, structure of dance language, music processing, character image building, techniques of handling space, time, props, acting techniques for actors; use of costumes and makeup appropriate to the purpose, content, artistic image of the work, cultural traditions of each region, ethnicity, country and appropriate to Vietnamese culture.

The Organizing Committee encourages new creative works that are imbued with the cultural identity of ethnic groups and nations, reflecting the colorful life of society and people in a true, profound and vivid manner; works that explore and innovate in form of expression, and combine with other art forms to enrich the form of expression for dance works.

The Organizing Committee stipulates that for domestic units, each unit is allowed to participate in one performance of no more than 30 minutes, with no limit on the number of participants. The works participating in the festival are typical, characteristic works, according to the artistic criteria of the festival and have unique and novel creativity. The Organizing Committee accepts works that have participated but have not won awards in domestic and international dance competitions and festivals; newly staged works are encouraged.

For foreign units, the total duration of the performance participating in the festival must not exceed 30 minutes, and the number of members of each foreign unit must not exceed 16 people (including the head of the delegation).

Regarding rewards, according to the regulations, the Organizing Committee will award Gold Medals and Silver Medals to performances with high artistic quality, according to the evaluation results of the Art Council; award Certificates and other material benefits (if any) to the winning units. The number of awards shall not exceed 35% of the total number of performances participating in the festival. The number of Gold Medals shall not exceed 35% of the total number of awards. The awards are based on the award structure and the scoring results of the Art Council. The number of awards does not necessarily have to ensure the 35% ratio if the quality of the performances does not meet the criteria in the judging and awarding regulations.

A representative of the Department of Performing Arts said that the International Dance Festival - 2024 is a cultural event to promote cooperation in the field of culture and arts between Vietnam and countries around the world, a place where dance art units nationwide and typical dance art units from many countries converge.

The festival is also an opportunity for the host country's artists to introduce and promote the value of Vietnamese dance art to international friends; an opportunity for art managers and Vietnamese dance artists to exchange, learn, and share experiences from international organizations in the process of artistic creation, contributing to creating new vitality and motivation to build and develop Vietnam's cultural industry./.
