In the new primary school year tasks, the Ministry of Education and Training emphasizes investing in conditions to ensure education quality.

52,482 first graders have not completed the curriculum

According to data from the Ministry of Education and Training, in the 2023-2024 school year, the country will have over 1.7 million first graders. Of these, over 1.1 million first graders will have completed Vietnamese language exams well, and over 1.2 million will have completed math exams well.

However, there are still 46,334 students who have not completed Vietnamese and 36,110 students who have not completed math. Other subjects and activities of the program have some students who have not completed or need to make efforts, but much less than the two subjects of Vietnamese and math.

The total number of students who have not completed the class program is 52,482 students. Compared to the previous school year, the number of first grade students who have not completed the program has decreased but not significantly.

At the primary education level, by the 2023-2024 school year, the implementation of the 2018 general education program has been deployed from grades 1 to 4.

According to the summary of the Ministry of Education and Training, in grade 2 nationwide there are nearly 1.7 million students and there are still 13,898 students who have not completed Vietnamese, 9,181 students who have not completed math, and nearly 21,000 students who have not completed the class program.

In grade 3, out of over 1.7 million students, 8,129 students have not completed Vietnamese, 7,711 students have not completed math, and 16,977 students have not completed the curriculum.

In grade 4 , out of over 1.7 million students, 5,821 students have not completed Vietnamese, 6,664 students have not completed math, and 14,604 students have not completed the curriculum.

Teaching conditions vary between regions.

Looking at the 2023-2024 school year data, it can be seen that the number of students who have not completed the curriculum is decreasing with each grade. This shows the efforts of schools and local education sectors. At the same time, it also shows that the biggest difficulties are concentrated in the group of "incomplete" students, often located in difficult areas with poor teaching conditions.

According to the assessment of the Ministry of Education and Training, the 2018 general education program has a number of new subjects and requires schools to teach 2 sessions/day, but preparing facilities and teaching staff is difficult.

Many localities also face difficulties in policy mechanisms or financial conditions for recruiting or contracting teachers. There are places where it is difficult to recruit teachers.

In the 2024-2025 school year, grade 5 is the last grade in primary school to implement the new program. In the new school year tasks at this level, the Ministry of Education and Training emphasizes investing in conditions to ensure educational quality.

Specifically, implementing the planning of school and classroom networks, ensuring facilities and teaching equipment, improving the quality of universal primary education, and improving the quality of teachers and management staff.

The new school year is also the year the Ministry of Education and Training promotes digital transformation and innovation in school management and administration. This includes continuing to pilot digital transcripts.
