After the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) issued the 2024-2025 school year time plan framework, many provinces and cities have developed their own local plans.

In Ho Chi Minh City , students of all levels return to school on August 26, except for first graders who return to school on August 19.

Schools from kindergarten to high school all start the new school year on September 5.Educational institutions ensure 18 weeks of actual study in semester 1 and 17 weeks of actual study in semester 2. After that, the school year ends before May 31, 2025.

The Lunar New Year holiday is expected to start from January 25, 2025 (December 26) to February 2, 2025 (January 5). Thus, next year, students in Ho Chi Minh City may have much less Tet holiday than in 2024 (16 days off).

In Lam Dong , students return to school on August 26, except for preschool education, which does not hold a school opening ceremony. Schools will hold the opening ceremony on September 5.

The opening ceremony of educational institutions in Bac Kan will take place simultaneously on September 5, but the school year will take place one week earlier, on August 29.

For grade 1, the earliest school start date is 2 weeks before the opening day (August 22).

The People's Committee of Bac Giang province decided that all levels of education will return to school on August 29, with first graders returning on August 23. Preschools, general education and continuing education facilities in the province will hold the opening ceremony on September 5 and begin implementing the teaching plan on September 6.

Grade 10 admission is conducted before July 31, 2025.

First graders in Dong Thap province will return to school on August 22 and students in other grades will return on August 29. The first semester will end before January 18, 2025 and the school year will end before May 31, 2025.
