26 winning works of the Propaganda Painting and Logo Creation Contest to celebrate the 70th Anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital

On August 10, the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports and the Department of Grassroots Culture (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) jointly organized the award ceremony and opened the exhibition of the Propaganda Painting and Logo Design Contest to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2024). Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ho An Phong attended the ceremony.

The contest is organized to promote the milestones and heroic memories, historical significance of the Capital Liberation Day; promote the propaganda of emulation movements, commend typical and advanced collectives and individuals who have made achievements to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Capital Liberation Day (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2024).

Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ho An Phong and Director of Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports Do Dinh Hong awarded the first prize for logo design to artist Nguyen Cong Quang.

Speaking at the ceremony, Director of the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports Do Dinh Hong said that the organization work had been carried out thoroughly and methodically, from planning to issuing the contest rules; from developing criteria to organizing the selection of works. The selection committee for the entries had gathered prestigious names in the fine arts and graphics industry nationwide.

After 2 months of launching from May 2024 to present, the Organizing Committee of the contest has received 700 works of propaganda paintings and logos from more than 300 professional and non-professional authors from many agencies and units in many provinces and cities across the country such as: Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Quang Ninh, Hoa Binh, Bac Giang, Hai Duong, Hung Yen, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Thai Binh, Nam Dinh, Phu Tho, Vinh Phuc, Son La, Quang Nam, Dak Nong, Tay Ninh, Da Lat, Dong Thap, police, army; cultural, literary and artistic agencies and units in the provinces: Bac Giang, Hung Yen, Phu Tho, Nghe An, Hai Duong, Vinh Phuc, Son La...

Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ho An Phong and Director of Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports Do Dinh Hong awarded first prizes to the winners of propaganda paintings.

According to Mr. Do Dinh Hong, the posters in the contest all demonstrate the content and criteria of the contest, in terms of form of expression such as: layout, writing style, diverse colors, and rich content. Many of the entries have a new artistic style, breaking the old rut in creating posters.

At the same time, it also highlights the propaganda and education contents about the great historical significance of the Capital Liberation Day, about the glorious revolutionary tradition of the Party Committee and people of Hanoi in the cause of national liberation, the aspiration to build and develop the Capital "Cultured - Civilized - Modern"; propaganda about the heroism and sacrifice "Determination to die for the Fatherland" of the army and people of Hanoi; propaganda about the achievements of the Capital over 70 years of construction and development and after nearly 40 years of implementing the cause of innovation in fields such as: culture, economy, society, health, science and technology.

Director of Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports Do Dinh Hong spoke at the ceremony.

As for the logo design works, they have shown the general features, images, and bold motifs of the milestones, heroic memories, and glorious revolutionary fighting traditions of the army and people of the Capital in the cause of national liberation, building and defending the Fatherland.

On behalf of the Awarding Council, Chairman of the Graphic Arts Council, Vietnam Fine Arts Association, Vice Principal of Vietnam University of Fine Arts Nguyen Nghia Phuong affirmed that the 70 propaganda paintings and logos selected for display at the exhibition demonstrate the high quality of the competition. In terms of content, these works all adhere to the rules of the competition, focusing on the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital. However, around that, there are also topics affirming the thousand-year-old cultural tradition of Thang Long - Hanoi, demonstrating new achievements in the development process of the Capital over 70 years, especially in recent times.

Chairman of the Graphic Arts Council, Vietnam Fine Arts Association, Vice Principal of Vietnam University of Fine Arts Nguyen Nghia Phuong shared at the ceremony.

"We see a romantic and gallant spirit in the selected images. It is also a dove, it is also the number 70, it is also familiar images of the Capital, but clearly this time we see a distillation, transformation, exuding a strong, delicate and especially romantic and gallant character, especially in the winning paintings that we enjoy in this exhibition. The contributions of the authors are very great to create the success of the competition" - Mr. Nguyen Nghia Phuong shared more.

Delegates cut the ribbon to open the exhibition.

At the ceremony, the Organizing Committee awarded prizes to 26 outstanding works including: 01 first prize for logo design; 03 first prizes for propaganda painting; 05 second prizes, 07 third prizes, 10 consolation prizes. In which, the first prize winning work for logo design by artist Nguyen Cong Quang was unanimously selected by the Propaganda Department, Central Propaganda Department and Hanoi City Party Committee and People's Committee as the logo to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital.

Delegates visiting the exhibition

During the award ceremony, delegates cut the ribbon to officially open the Exhibition of propaganda posters and logos celebrating the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of Hanoi. Along with 26 award-winning works, the Organizing Committee selected 45 high-quality works to display in this exhibition.
