From today - August 1, Bach Mai Hospital's examination hours will last until 9:00 p.m. every day.

Associate Professor, Dr. Dao Xuan Co said that currently, more than 2,000 experts, doctors, nurses, medical technicians, and employees of Bach Mai Hospital have voluntarily registered, including more than 500 experts, clinical and paraclinical doctors working overtime to expand medical examination and treatment hours outside of office hours.

"Among them, many professors, associate professors, and doctors with high professional skills have registered to participate in medical examination and treatment. Many doctors are even willing to close their private clinics to work right at the hospital. Because the agency has appropriate policies and mechanisms to reassure doctors," said Mr. Co.

Informing Health and Life, a representative of Bach Mai Hospital's leadership said that during this afternoon's after-hours examination, Associate Professor, Dr. Dao Xuan Co and Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Van Giap - Deputy Director of Bach Mai Hospital, along with many leading experts, will participate in examining people in need.

It is known that Bach Mai Hospital has fully arranged clinics and specialties during office hours such as: Endocrinology, Digestion, Musculoskeletal, Respiratory, Neurology, Nephrology, Cardiology, Infectious, Hematology, Intensive Care, Obstetrics, Pediatrics, ENT, Dentistry, Ophthalmology... The clinics are arranged in building K1, convenient for people to travel for examination.

Bach Mai Hospital's leaders informed that every day this medical facility receives between 6,000-8,000 outpatients and 4,000 inpatients. With a large number of patients, the hospital has had to organize overtime medical examinations and treatment, and arrange appropriate testing and paraclinical activities.

Data analysis shows that currently 80% of patients coming to Bach Mai Hospital for examination and treatment are from remote provinces, only 20% live in Hanoi. There was a period in 2022 - the first half of 2023 when the hospital lacked equipment, so many patients had to rent rooms or lie around in the hospital waiting for medical examination and treatment.

In addition, due to habit and the large number of patients, they still concentrate in the morning from 6 - 9 am, causing traffic jams around the hospital as well as inside the hospital.

In addition, Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Van Giap shared: There was a period after the COVID-19 pandemic, when the hospital was facing difficulties, many employees had to work as shippers, post votive offerings, sell online... to balance life and work.

The hospital's management has been struggling to find a way for staff to increase their income through their own skills. Patients have stopped waiting in line from midnight, waiting to be examined.

"Based on that, the Party Committee, Board of Directors, and Trade Union of Bach Mai Hospital issued a joint resolution to set up a medical examination time frame from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. every day to spread out the number of patients for medical examination and treatment in the morning, making it convenient for people to arrange their time for medical examination; at the same time, meeting the overtime requirements of medical staff. The goal is to put patients at the center, the hospital takes the spirit of volunteerism and self-reliance of staff" - Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Van Giap added.
