At the ceremony to commend and reward excellent students, Ho Chi Minh City leaders honored and rewarded 474 students with high achievements in national and international excellent student competitions and 95 excellent teachers who have made many contributions to the work of discovering and nurturing gifted students.

In particular, in the 2023-2024 school year, Ho Chi Minh City had outstanding results in the national excellent student exam with 167 students taking the exam and 110 students winning prizes, a rate of 65.87%; breaking away from the 12th position in the overall ranking of results of provinces/cities in the 2022-2023 school year, jumping more than 10 places to win 2nd place nationwide.

In addition, there were impressive results from two students from Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted, winning second prize in the field of system software and fourth prize (Special Awards) awarded by the American Association for Information Technology at the 2024 International Science and Technology Fair held last May. This is the first time that students from Ho Chi Minh City have won the highest prize after 12 years of participating in this international playground.

With the above results, the city leaders and theeducation sector believe that it is due to the efforts of the students themselves, along with the dedicated guidance of teachers, the care, attention, encouragement and motivation of their families, and the support of schools and social organizations. Teachers, with their love for their profession and dedication, have constantly improved teaching methods, invested in researching materials and applying technology, helping students maximize their abilities. These efforts not only help students achieve outstanding results but also equip them with the knowledge, soft skills and qualities necessary to become global citizens.

Sharing with students at the ceremony to commend and reward excellent students, Ms. Nguyen Thi Le, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council, said: "The city leaders hope that in addition to making efforts to study and learn cultural, scientific and technical subjects, students need to enhance their life skills, cultivate and practice ethics to gradually improve themselves, while nurturing their ambitions and aspirations to contribute to their homeland and country."
