Celebrating 30 years of Chau Duc district establishment: Strong transformation towards a dynamic economic zone

Chau Duc District, Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province was established on August 15, 1994 on the basis of separation from Chau Thanh District. Chau Duc District is located in the Northeast, with a total area of ​​over 42,262 hectares and a population of over 165,000; there are 16 administrative units, including 1 town and 15 communes.

From a poor rural area, it has now transformed strongly into a prosperous land, with a clear improvement in the appearance of urban and rural areas. Currently, Chau Duc district has no poor households, and is one of two localities in the province to complete the National Target Program on Sustainable Poverty Reduction the earliest.

Over the past three decades, the district's economic structure has shifted positively. From 1994 to 2023, the proportion of agriculture, forestry and fishery decreased from 77% to 46%, while the construction industry increased from 6.2% to 22%, and trade and services from 16.8% to 32%. Per capita income has also increased significantly from 5.1 million VND/year to 85 million VND/year.

Chau Duc district is currently one of the two localities with the largest industrial park (IP) area in the province, with 3,082 hectares, accounting for nearly 30% of the total IP area of ​​the province. Industrial parks and clusters in the area operate effectively, with a high occupancy rate. At the same time, the district is actively implementing measures to attract investment in the field of deep processing of agricultural products, combined with the One Commune One Product (OCOP) program. Currently, the district has 43 OCOP products meeting the standards of 3 stars or higher.

Up to now, the whole district has 15/15 communes meeting new rural standards, of which 11/15 communes meet advanced new rural standards and 4 communes meet model new rural standards. The infrastructure system has been completed, the quality of life of the people has been increasingly improved comprehensively.

Mr. Nguyen Van Minh (residing in Suoi Rao commune, Chau Duc district) shared: “We are very happy and proud of the positive changes of the district. The muddy dirt roads of the past have now been replaced by clean, beautiful asphalt roads. The lives of the people are increasingly improving, not only economically but also spiritually. According to Ms. Tran Thi Lan (residing in Ngai Giao town, Chau Duc district), thanks to the correct leadership of the authorities at all levels, people's lives have improved significantly. Policies to support agricultural development, along with increasingly improved infrastructure, have helped people feel secure in their work and production.

With an increasingly complete infrastructure system and an increasingly improved quality of life for the people, Chau Duc district is proud of its achievement of being awarded the First Class Labor Medal by the President and many other emulation achievements.”
