On the evening of April 12, at the Dak Lak Provincial Sports Gymnasium, the Vietnam Boxing Federation (Vietnam Sports Department - Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) coordinated with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Dak Lak province to organize the opening ceremony of the 2025 National Boxing Championship for Strong Teams.
48 clubs participated in the tournament.
The 2025 National Boxing Championship for Strong Teams has 441 athletes from 48 clubs in 39 provinces, cities and sectors across the country participating in the competition, including: An Giang, Bac Giang, Bac Lieu, Bac Ninh, Binh Dinh, Binh Duong, Binh Phuoc, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Can Tho, People's Public Security, Dong Nai, Gia Lai, Hanoi women, Hanoi men, Hai Duong, Hai Phong, Hau Giang, Hoa Binh, Hung Yen, Khanh Hoa, Lai Chau, Lam Dong, Lao Cai, Nam Dinh, Nghe An, Ninh Binh, Phu Yen, Army, Quang Binh, Quang Ngai, Quang Ninh, Son La, Tay Ninh, Thai Binh, Thai Nguyen, Thanh Hoa, Tien Giang, Ho Chi Minh City and host Dak Lak.
Delegates presented souvenir flags to 48 clubs participating in the tournament.
Athletes compete in 54 weight categories, divided into two age groups: 17-18 and 19-40. In the 17-18 age group, there are 14 weight categories for men (from over 44kg to over 92kg), and 13 weight categories for women (from over 42kg to over 81kg). In the 19-40 age group, there are 14 weight categories for men (from over 44kg to over 92kg) and 13 weight categories for women (from over 42kg to over 81kg). Athletes compete in a knockout format.
According to Le Phuc Long, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Dak Lak province, the 2025 National Boxing Championship for Strong Teams aims to test the training level and competition ability of boxing athletes from provinces, cities and sectors nationwide; thereby discovering and selecting excellent athletes for the national team to train and participate in international tournaments. At the same time, through the tournament, the Organizing Committee will examine and evaluate the capacity and professional qualifications of the referee team, management staff, and staff serving the organization of domestic tournaments.
A match took place on the opening day of the tournament.
The tournament aims to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025) and promote the implementation of the campaign "All people exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho". The Organizing Committee hopes to witness dramatic matches, a spirit of wholehearted competition and dedication to the flag. For the tournament to be successful, the Organizing Committee requests that the referees conduct the tournament objectively, fairly, and in accordance with the law; the athletes compete with a spirit of honesty, solidarity, and nobility, and strictly comply with the tournament's regulations.
