This is the second time the PRISM conference has been held in Southeast Asia, aiming to connect the Vietnamese genetic research community with global experts, thereby accessing advanced technology and promoting international cooperation.
This year's conference focuses on next-generation gene sequencing techniques – an important foundation in research on human, plant, animal genomes, infectious diseases and especially oncology.

In parallel with the professional presentations, the conference also has a technology exhibition and in-depth workshops, introducing the latest gene sequencing equipment and techniques.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Ton Cam Tram, General Director of DKSH Vietnam Business Unit Technology, said: “PRISM 2025 is a bridge to help Vietnamese scientists access modern gene technology, expand cooperation and improve domestic research capacity.”

According to Associate Professor, Doctor Vu Chi Dung, Vice President of the Vietnam Medical Genetics Association, in recent years, new generation gene sequencing techniques have been constantly improved, playing an important role in scientific research, biology and especially medicine.
“Genome sequencing helps diagnose genetic diseases, rare congenital abnormalities and complex diseases such as cancer early and accurately. The conference presented technology that allows the detection of small structural abnormalities in the human genome such as deletions, duplications, etc. right from the womb and after birth. In the next 3-5 years, this technology will be widely applied in precision medicine in Vietnam,” said Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Chi Dung, Vice President of the Vietnam Medical Genetics Association.
Gene sequencing not only serves medical diagnosis but also plays a key role in disease control. Determining the genetic sequence of a pathogen is the basis for developing effective vaccines, treatments and preventive measures.
