According to the latest data from the General Statistics Office, agricultural exports reached 1.96 billion USD in July 2024. In general, the main items in this group all increased in turnover compared to the same period last year.
Specifically, the amount of pepper exported in July reached 28,000 tons, an increase of 83% compared to the same period last year. Thanks to the price increase, the export turnover of pepper in the month also increased by 181% compared to the same period last year, reaching 160 million USD.
Cashew nuts also recorded increases in both volume and value, up 27.7% year-on-year and 40.4% year-on-year, respectively, to 70,000 tons and 428 million USD. Cassava and cassava products increased 65% year-on-year in volume, reaching 240,000 tons exported in July 2024, with value also increasing 64%, reaching 118 million USD.
Vietnam's tea exports in the month also increased by 52% compared to the same period last year, reaching 16,000 tons. With a slight increase in price, the turnover of this item increased to 29 million USD, up 56% compared to the same period last year.
In contrast to the increasing trend in tea and pepper volume, coffee and rice exports in the month decreased by 35% and 4% respectively compared to the same period last year, to 70,000 tons and 630,000 tons. However, thanks to high prices, the turnover of these two items still grew, with coffee increasing by 12% compared to the same period last year and rice increasing by 6% compared to the same period last year, reaching 346 million USD and 386 million USD respectively.

Vegetables and fruits were the agricultural product with the largest export turnover in July 2024 with 500 million USD, up 23% over the same period last year.
In the first 7 months of 2024, the total export turnover of agricultural products reached 14.6 billion USD. Of which, Vietnam has 4 agricultural products reaching a turnover of billion USD with a total of 13.01 billion USD, accounting for 88% of the export turnover of this group.
Fruits and vegetables continued to be the item with the largest export turnover at 3.83 billion USD, up 24.3% over the same period last year. Coffee was the item with the second largest turnover at 3.53 billion USD, up 30.9% over the same period last year; rice at 3.27 billion USD, up 25.1% over the same period last year and cashew nuts at 2.37 billion USD, up 22.1% over the same period last year.
In addition to billion-dollar items, in this group, Vietnam earned 790 million USD from pepper exports, up 46.3% year-on-year; cassava and cassava products exports with 748 million USD, up 12.5% year-on-year; and tea with 135 million USD, up 34.8% year-on-year.
In terms of volume, coffee exports in the first 7 months of 2024 decreased by 13.8% over the same period last year, to 964,000 tons; cassava and cassava products decreased by 1.2% over the same period last year, reaching 1.62 million tons.
In contrast, the amount of cashew nuts exported increased by 26.4% over the same period last year, to 424,000 tons; tea increased by 32.7% over the same period last year, reaching 78,000 tons; rice increased by 5.8% over the same period last year, reaching 5.17 million tons and pepper increased by 0.9% over the same period last year, reaching 169,000 tons.
