President Luong Cuong arrives in Vientiane, starting State visit to Laos

According to the special correspondent of the Vietnam News Agency, at 3:00 p.m. on April 24, the plane carrying President Luong Cuong and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation arrived at Wattay International Airport, Vientiane, starting a state visit to the Lao PDR from April 24-25 at the invitation of General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party and President of the Lao PDR Thongloun Sisoulith.

Welcoming President Luong Cuong and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation at Wattay airport were Head of the Lao Presidential Office Khemmani Pholsena; Mayor of Vientiane Atsaphangthong Siphandone; Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Laos; Lao Ambassador to Vietnam Khamphao Ernthavanh; and a number of leaders of units of the Lao Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Vietnamese Ambassador Nguyen Minh Tam and staff of the Vietnamese Embassy in Laos were also present at the airport to welcome the President and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation.

In an atmosphere filled with friendship, representatives of overseas Vietnamese and Vietnamese students in Laos as well as a large number of Lao students and people holding the national flags of the two countries welcomed the President and the delegation at the airport.

President Luong Cuong's visit to Laos this time takes place at a time when the two countries are vigorously implementing the Resolutions of each Party, the socio-economic development plans of each country and have achieved many important and proud achievements; the cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Laos is developing very well, the agreements of the two Parties' senior leaders, the cooperation agreements between the two Governments are being actively implemented by both sides and achieving many important results in various fields.

The visit not only contributes to further deepening the special solidarity relationship between Vietnam and Laos, but is also an opportunity for the two sides to exchange information on the situation of each Party, each country, the world and the region that both sides are interested in. At the same time, they will evaluate the implementation of cooperation between the two countries in recent times, and discuss measures to promote the special solidarity relationship between Vietnam and Laos to continue to develop deeply and extensively in all fields in the coming time.

During his visit to Laos, President Luong Cuong is expected to attend the official welcoming ceremony, hold talks with Lao General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith, and witness the signing ceremony of cooperation documents between the two countries. The President will also meet with the Lao Prime Minister and National Assembly Chairman; visit former high-ranking leaders of Laos; attend the official reception of the Lao General Secretary and President; attend the Vietnam-Laos Friendship Exchange; visit the Vietnamese Embassy; meet the Vietnamese community in Laos and a number of other important activities.
