Chau Phu strives to develop the economy and care for people's lives.

In the first months of 1975, good news of victory spread from all over. Responding to the policy of the 1975 General Offensive and Uprising, the Provincial Party Committee directed "The province liberates the province, the district liberates the district, the commune liberates the commune". Preparing for the campaign, the District Team (from Thanh My Tay field moved to O Long Vi base) carefully organized logistics and other aspects. Entering the campaign, Party cadres, mass organizations, military propaganda... were active and mentally ready to do well the task of attacking and liberating the district. On May 3, 1975, Chau Phu district was completely liberated. The joy of victory exploded because the country was united.

When the country turned a new page, Chau Phu, like many other rural areas in the South, had to face a series of challenges from the severe consequences of war. The infrastructure system was destroyed, people's lives were in need, production stagnated, many cultivated lands were abandoned... In that context, the local government and the people embarked on the restoration and construction work. After the country implemented the renovation policy, on the basis of implementing the Resolution of the 4th Provincial Party Congress (term 1986 - 1990), the Resolution of the 4th District Party Congress (term 1986 - 1988), Chau Phu district quickly innovated in all fields, first of all in the agricultural sector.

After 10 years, Chau Phu district's economy has flourished. Gross domestic product increased by 157%, average income per capita was over 2.8 million VND/year (up 144% compared to 1991); the material and spiritual life of the people has been improved. Along with economic development, the local Party Committee and government have paid attention to caring for, training and nurturing people, creating core nuclei for the homeland. Entering the current integration stage, Chau Phu district has strived to implement synchronous solutions to develop the locality, worthy of the glorious tradition of the Party Committee, army and people of Chau Phu through many generations.

The local agricultural sector still plays a leading role, but has shifted to commodity production thinking, targeting domestic and foreign consumption markets. Rice cultivation applies technical advances, high-quality rice varieties, mechanized production, modern farming techniques according to the model of "3 reductions - 3 increases", "1 must - 5 reductions". The district also focuses on transforming the structure of crops and livestock; developing concentrated production areas, farmers participating in the production and consumption chain. By the end of 2024, the district's agricultural land production value will reach 217.2 million VND/ha, food output will reach 542,057 tons; average income per capita will reach 73.42 million VND.

Along with economic development, rural transport infrastructure has received investment attention. The main roads, inter-commune and inter-hamlet roads have been asphalted or concreted, creating a complete traffic network, shortening the distance and travel time between communes in the district and between districts. The cultural and social fields have received comprehensive attention. The school network has been consolidated from preschool to high school, educational facilities have been increasingly improved, teaching quality has been improved; health care for people has been increasingly improved; social security policies, care for people with meritorious services, poor households, and vulnerable people in society have been implemented promptly.

As a resident of Chau Phu district, witnessing the changes in his hometown, Mr. Nguyen Van Tam (My Phu commune) shared: “I still remember, in the years after liberation, people's lives were full of difficulties. Over time, society developed, people's lives and activities changed a lot, essential needs were all available, personal means of transportation and public transportation were bustling. Living in peace, with stable living conditions was too good”.

Looking back on the past journey, from the land that rose from the war, Chau Phu has gradually overcome difficulties, rebuilt, developed and integrated with the general development of the province. The achievements today are the result of the solidarity, efforts and consensus of the Party, the government and all classes of people in the cause of construction, development and development of the homeland, to be worthy of the sacrifice of many generations of people who are ready to fall. The road ahead is full of challenges, but with the tradition of resilience and the will to rise, the next generations continue to strive, reap more successes, contribute to building the homeland and the country to develop more and more.
