Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien visits Hoa Phat Dung Quat Iron and Steel Production Complex

On the afternoon of August 8, 2024, within the framework of a working trip to Quang Ngai province, Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien and his delegation visited and worked with Hoa Phat Dung Quat Steel Joint Stock Company.

Mr. Ho Duc Tho - Deputy Director of Hoa Phat Dung Quat Steel Company reported to the Minister of Industry and Trade and the working delegation.

Joining the delegation of the Ministry of Industry and Trade to work with a number of enterprises in Dung Quat Economic Zone were Mr. Nguyen Hoang Giang - Chairman of Quang Ngai Provincial People's Committee and representatives of provincial departments and branches. On the side of Hoa Phat Dung Quat Steel Joint Stock Company, welcoming the delegation were members of the Board of Directors and heads and deputy heads of specialized departments.

Reporting to the leaders of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Mr. Ho Duc Tho - Deputy Director of the Company said that currently, the Hoa Phat Dung Quat Iron and Steel Production Complex has been operating stably since the first quarter of 2021, creating jobs for more than 17,000 workers, mainly local people. The complex applies the most modern, closed-loop and environmentally friendly technologies. The Company always strictly fulfills its obligations to the State and is a member of Hoa Phat Group with the largest contribution to the state budget. In addition, the Company has carried out many social security activities in the province.

Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien was impressed with the scale and production and business results that Hoa Phat Dung Quat Steel has achieved in recent times. The Minister noted that Hoa Phat Dung Quat Steel Joint Stock Company should always pay attention to ensuring the lives of workers; apply high technology in production and business to improve efficiency, contributing to the overall development. The company needs to implement policies for long-term employee commitment and implement good corporate culture.

Currently, the Company is focusing on implementing the Hoa Phat Dung Quat 2 Iron and Steel Complex project with an investment capital of VND 85,000 billion and a capacity of 5.6 million tons of high-quality hot-rolled steel coil per year. Deployed from the first quarter of 2022, the project has completed 80% of phase 1 and 50% of phase 2.

This is an important strategic project with high spillover effects, contributing positively to the growth of industrial production value of Quang Ngai province in particular and the whole country in general, while enhancing the position of the leading steel producer in Southeast Asia for Hoa Phat Group. The project also promotes the formation of a modern steel production industry, self-sufficient in high-quality steel products for the mechanical engineering industry.

Leaders of the Ministry of Industry and Trade directed the Company to focus on construction and soon put the Hoa Phat Dung Quat 2 Iron and Steel Complex Project into operation on schedule to exploit the potential and advantages of the locality.

On behalf of Hoa Phat Dung Quat Steel Joint Stock Company, Mr. Ho Duc Tho sincerely thanked the leaders of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and Quang Ngai province and the members of the working delegation for their attention. In the coming time, the Company will continue to focus on completing production and business targets as well as putting the Dung Quat 2 project into operation on schedule.
