There have been many heroic armies in the world from the past to the present, but heroes in poverty, heroes as simple as Uncle Ho's soldiers are truly unique.
Not only has the heroic Vietnam People's Army always successfully completed its mission of fighting foreign invaders, building and protecting the Fatherland, it is also a benevolent army, loving its own people but also sympathizing with people around the world.
When Vietnamese "blue beret" soldiers went abroad, to poor and war-torn African countries, to devote themselves to UN peacekeeping missions, they were welcomed by the African people with all admiration and affection. Just hearing the two words "Vietnam" made many African people stand up and shout "Vietnam! Vietnam!".
80 years, the history of the Vietnam People's Army is also an extremely arduous, sacrificial but glorious history of the Vietnamese people . The most special thing about our army is the spirit of solidarity, unity of mind, commanders and soldiers always look in the same direction, whether fighting in the battlefield or protecting the people from natural disasters and epidemics, our "yellow star" army always responds with one voice.
The natural disasters in 2024 are terrible. The Tay ethnic people in Lang Nu village, Phuc Khanh commune, Bao Yen district, Lao Cai , will engrave in their memories the terrifying and haunting flash floods. But the people of Lang Nu will also remember more deeply the image of Uncle Ho's soldiers who were present right when the flash floods occurred, and together with the people fought the floods, saved people, and then rebuilt a new Lang Nu village so that the people not only had a place to live, but also had the opportunity to live happily after the disaster.
The spirit of solidarity "For the people, forgetting oneself" of our army started from Uncle Ho's soldiers from the very beginning of its establishment. Those soldiers were guided, trained and imparted revolutionary morality by Uncle Ho himself so that we have an army that is not only strong but also very moral, knows how to love the people, knows how to share the joys and sorrows with the people.
General Giap Van Cuong, the first admiral of the Vietnam People's Navy, once told his soldiers: "I don't want to torture you. What value do these barren rocks have that we have to protect them? But this is our Fatherland, our flesh and blood. We are not protecting these wild rocks, but the sea! Losing the islands means losing the sea, and the sea surrounds us from North to South. All enemies who attack us come from the sea. So we must protect the islands, protect the sea. No matter how hard it is, we must protect them, even if we die!"
The highest commander of the Vietnam People's Navy confided that, the naval soldiers considered it a military order of love, how could they not carry it out at the highest level, achieving the best results.
Our heroes, they are so simple and lovely. The army is a great family.
Over the past 80 years, millions of children in that family have grown up.
