The Quan The Am Ngu Hanh Son Festival in Da Nang city is one of the folk festivals imbued with the religious and belief elements of Buddhism.
The festival is a unique community cultural activity, an effort of local people to restore and preserve the good traditional values of the nation, an opportunity for Buddhists in particular and the people in general to pray for national peace and prosperity, for all living beings to be happy, to arouse compassion, charity, and goodness in each person, the harmony between Buddhism and the nation, and love for the homeland.
The 2025 Ngu Hanh Son Quan The Am Festival will take place from March 16-19 (February 17-20 of the lunar calendar) with many rich and diverse cultural, artistic, sports, belief and religious activities, promising to attract a large number of Buddhists, people and tourists to participate.
The Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara's birthday ceremony is the official ceremony of the Festival, attracting tens of thousands of Buddhists and people to participate with the desire to spread the message of love, turn their hearts to Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara, and pray for the country to always be peaceful and prosperous, and for the people to be happy and peaceful.
In addition to cultural activities, the Festival also features traditional sports activities such as the Traditional Boat Racing Festival, including the flag-capturing scene of Princess Huyen Tran on the Co Co River; Village Flag Festival, Tug of War, etc.
In 2000, the Ngu Hanh Son Quan The Am Festival was listed by the General Department of Tourism as one of the 15 major festivals in the country. In 2021, the Ngu Hanh Son Quan The Am Festival was recognized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage. From 2023, the Ngu Hanh Son Quan The Am Festival will be organized by the People's Committee of Da Nang City on a city-level scale.
