Thu Duc City currently has the most universities, 26 schools with 30 training facilities. Next is District 1 with 12 schools with 15 facilities, Binh Thanh District has 9 schools with 11 facilities, District 3 has 7 schools with 9 facilities. District 5, District 7, District 10, District 12 and Tan Binh District all have the same number of 6 schools located.
The district currently has 5 universities: Go Vap. Phu Nhuan District has 4 universities. District 8 has 3 universities, but only Saigon University of Technology has its main campus. Meanwhile, Hoc Mon district only has one university training facility of Ho Chi Minh City University of Foreign Languages and Information Technology. The unit with the longest history of formation and development is Ho Chi Minh City University of Fine Arts, whose predecessor was Gia Dinh Painting School, established in 1913, then named Saigon College of Fine Arts (1954), Ho Chi Minh City College of Fine Arts (1975) and in 1981 was renamed Ho Chi Minh City University of Fine Arts.
