Half a century has passed, but the Great Victory of Spring 1975 is still a source of great pride for every Vietnamese person. The historical lessons from the resistance war against the US to save the country still have value in the work of building and defending the Fatherland, especially when our country is realizing its aspiration to step into a new era of development: an era of breakthrough development, successfully building a socialist Vietnam, rich, strong, democratic, fair, civilized, prosperous, and happy.

Grasping the strategic opportunity and being “speedy, bold, and determined to win” with the spirit of “one day is worth 20 years” was the motto of action in the 1975 Spring General Offensive and Uprising of our nation. That motto, together with the strength of the great solidarity bloc, created a great victory - a brilliant milestone, bringing the country into a new era, the whole country transitioned to socialism with extremely great achievements. In particular, after nearly 40 years of implementing the renovation process, Vietnam has been highly appreciated by friends around the world, as the 13th National Party Congress affirmed: Our country has never had such a foundation, potential, position and international prestige as it does today.

However, frankly speaking, the country has not yet developed as expected; there is a risk of falling into the middle-income "trap" and falling behind in science and technology... Therefore, the Party and State have determined to bring the country into a new era of development, catching up, advancing together, and standing shoulder to shoulder with the world powers.

To successfully achieve this noble goal, more than ever, we must apply and maximize the value of the historical lesson of seizing strategic opportunities and being "speedy, bold, and determined to win" 50 years ago, with strategic policies, decisions, and breakthrough actions and steps.

We are rearranging and reorganizing administrative units and building two-level local governments; resolutely innovating the organization of the political system to be streamlined, strong, efficient, effective and efficient.

We are establishing a new growth model; building a modern national education system on par with the region and the world; making breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation and national digital transformation; considering private economic development as the most important driving force of the economy, determined to achieve a growth rate of 8% or more by 2025, creating momentum for double-digit growth in the next period; striving to become a developing country with modern industry and high middle income by 2030, and a developed country with high income by 2045.

We are striving to take care of comprehensive social security, leaving no one behind with many excellent and practical policies that are agreed upon and supported by the people.

All work is carried out decisively and thoroughly in the spirit of a revolution, "running and lining up at the same time" but firmly and systematically, bringing the highest efficiency. That is to promote the historical lesson of "speed, boldness, determination to win" in the new development stage, not only ensuring that all opportunities are seized promptly but also turning danger into opportunity; not being passive or surprised in all conditions and circumstances.

The world and regional situation is changing rapidly, complicatedly, and unpredictably; the risk of conflict, war, and competition between major powers is increasingly fierce... In that context, we must thoroughly grasp the lesson of constantly grasping the situation, seizing strategic opportunities to have correct, flexible, and effective policies and strategies with the highest goal of firmly protecting national and ethnic interests; always proactively protecting the Fatherland early and from afar, "protecting the country before it is in danger".

The entire army has been and is continuing to make efforts to build a revolutionary, regular, elite, and modern army in the direction of "refined, compact, and strong", serving as the core in the cause of consolidating national defense and firmly protecting the Fatherland.

Our entire nation has united, and must unite even more; act in unison, strive with one heart under the wise leadership of the Party, because this is the invincible strength that will lead the country to overcome all difficulties and challenges, and step firmly into the new era of development.

The lyrics of the song "Liberate the South": "The fate of the country has come/ Dawn shines everywhere/ Building a bright and eternal country" and the lyrics of the National Anthem: "Forward! Forward together! Our Vietnamese country is strong and lasting" are calling and urging our entire nation to promote the glorious heroic revolutionary tradition, unite, strive and contribute so that the sacred Vietnamese Fatherland becomes more and more radiant and beautiful!
