Repositioning and developing tourism hubs

Mr. Hoang Nguyen Dinh, Secretary of Vung Tau City Party Committee, said that the project "Building Vung Tau City into a high-quality, international-class tourist destination and achieving zero net emissions by 2050" will be specified in each phase. In the 2024 - 2030 phase, Vung Tau City identifies tourism as the foundation for development. This is the first phase, the city needs to focus on establishing a strong tourism industry, creating a premise for innovative and sustainable initiatives in the next phases. In this phase, the city invests in developing tourism infrastructure, improving tourism services and building an effective tourism management system. Thereby, building a solid foundation for Vung Tau tourism, attracting tourists and increasing the contribution of tourism to the local economy.

In 2024 to 2025, the city will reposition and develop tourism centers by restoring cultural attractions, including project groups to improve facilities and experiences at important historical, cultural and museum tourist sites. Develop integrated infrastructure for tourism and supporting technical infrastructure such as traffic connections and communications. Focus resources on finding, attracting and organizing major events such as international conferences and exhibitions in areas such as technology, entertainment, arts, medicine, health care, etc.

From 2026 - 2028, expand and diversify the tourism sector through project groups to improve high-end tourism and MICE; develop eco-tourism (including developing and attracting activities combining sports and tourism with major competitions in running, climbing, triathlon, etc.; and at the same time, developing environmentally friendly tourism activities); promote initiatives on digital tourism and high-end tourism.

From 2029 - 2030, promote the development of smart city projects, integrating tourism management infrastructure and smart urban management.

Phase 2030 - 2040: Innovation as a bridge

This phase uses the existing successful tourism platform to promote a sustainable and technologically innovative environment. Vung Tau will focus on applying advanced technology in tourism management and experience, promoting the development of the tourism industry through the combination of tourism and technology, creating an innovative business ecosystem, supporting other industries to develop together to become part of a sustainable local economy.

From 2031 to 2033, Vung Tau City will focus on projects related to enhancing innovation in the tourism sector. Building a smart tourism model by integrating information and communication technologies into tourism activities. From 2034 to 2036, the period will continue to increase the quality of the innovation ecosystem with the driving force being the tourism sector through project groups: innovation towards sustainable tourism; developing high-quality human resources through education and training linked to practice.

From 2037 to 2040, the city aims to affirm its position as a center of innovation in the tourism sector in the region and the world. Create favorable conditions for startups and technology enterprises to cooperate with the tourism industry. The integration of innovation and tourism will create new, unique and attractive tourism products, services and experiences. Vung Tau will develop a smart city with the application of advanced technologies in tourism activities.

Reducing carbon emissions from tourism activities

The period 2040 - 2050 is the final stage in the comprehensive development strategy of Vung Tau City, which needs to integrate advances in tourism and innovation to achieve a sustainable city, net zero emissions, ensuring economic and environmental sustainability.

Mr. Hoang Nguyen Dinh said that during this period, Vung Tau will promote tourism activities and other economic sectors that still protect the environment, use renewable energy sources and build a green public transport system. The city still ensures that tourism develops in a sustainable way, contributing to environmental protection and maintaining a balance between economic development and the environment.
