Annual leave for teachers in the 2024-2025 school year.

The Minister of Education and Training issued Decision 2045/QD-BGDDT dated August 1, 2024 on the 2024-2025 school year time plan framework for preschool education, general education and continuing education.

Guidance on annual leave for teachers in the 2024-2025 school year

According to the principles of developing school year time plans for preschool education, general education and continuing education of localities in Article 2 of Decision 2045/QD-BGDDT dated August 1, 2024, teachers' annual leave is taken during the summer vacation or can be arranged alternately at other times of the year to suit the specific characteristics and school year time plans of the locality.

Specifically, the 2024-2025 school year time plan framework for preschool education, general education and continuing education applied nationwide issued under Decision 2045/QD-BGDDT dated August 1, 2024 is as follows:

- Return to school at least 1 week before the opening day. For grade 1, return to school at least 2 weeks before the opening day.

- Opening ceremony on September 5, 2024.

- Finish semester I before January 18, 2025, complete the program and end the school year before May 31, 2025.

- Consider recognition of completion of primary school program and consider recognition of secondary school graduation before June 30, 2025.

- Complete enrollment for first grade classes before July 31, 2025.

- The 2025 high school graduation exam is scheduled to take place on June 26 and 27, 2025.

- Other national exams are organized according to regulations and instructions of the Ministry of Education and Training.

Summer vacation time for teachers and lecturers

Summer vacation time for teachers and lecturers is stipulated in Article 3 of Decree 84/2020/ND-CP as follows:

(1) Teachers' summer vacation:

- The annual summer vacation for teachers of preschools, general education institutions, and specialized schools is 08 weeks, including annual leave.

- The annual summer vacation for secondary school teachers and college lecturers is 06 weeks, including annual leave.

- The annual summer vacation of university lecturers is implemented according to the regulations on organization and operation of the university;

- In sudden, urgent cases to prevent natural disasters, epidemics or urgent cases, the summer vacation time of teachers at preschools, general education institutions, specialized schools, secondary schools and colleges is decided by the Minister of Education and Training and the Minister of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs according to their authority.

(2) In addition to the summer vacation as prescribed in (1) of this section, teachers and lecturers are entitled to holidays, Tet and other holidays as prescribed by the 2019 Labor Code.

(3) Based on the school year schedule issued by the Ministry of Education and Training and specific local conditions, the Chairman of the People's Committee of the province or centrally-run city (hereinafter referred to as the Provincial People's Committee) decides the summer vacation time for teachers at preschools, general education institutions, and specialized schools in the area.

Pursuant to Point b, Clause 1, Article 3 of Decree 84/2020/ND-CP, the principal of a secondary school or college shall decide on the summer vacation time of teachers and lecturers in accordance with the training plan and specific conditions of each school.

(4) Summer vacation for teachers in educational institutions under the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of National Defense shall be implemented according to separate regulations of the Government.
