Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan visits and presents gifts in Kien Giang province

On the morning of March 10, Comrade Vo Thi Anh Xuan, member of the Party Central Committee, Vice President, and a delegation from the Office of the President visited and presented gifts in Giang Thanh border district, Kien Giang province.

Speaking at the gift-giving ceremony, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan expressed her deep gratitude to the Giang Thanh border area - which was once a strategic location in the resistance wars against colonialism and imperialism and to protect the southwestern border. Thousands of cadres, soldiers and people fought and sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland, of which the legendary Highway 1C alone has witnessed the sacrifice of nearly 1,300 martyrs.

After the war, Kien Giang province had nearly 15,000 martyrs, about 3,500 war invalids and more than 8,300 policy households. To date, the province still has 28 Vietnamese Heroic Mothers living. With the tradition of "drinking water, remembering its source", Kien Giang has effectively implemented policies to repay gratitude, taking care of the material and spiritual life of policy families and people with revolutionary contributions.

The Vice President emphasized that 2025 is the final year of the term, a crucial time in assessing the results of implementing socio-economic development goals, while creating a solid foundation for the next term. The Party and the State have issued many major policies and decisions, including the economic growth target of 8% or more, aiming for a double-digit growth rate in the next period. In particular, implementing very important tasks that the Central Committee calls historic decisions, which are streamlining, organizing the apparatus, and merging administrative units to create new development conditions for the country.

The Vice President requested Kien Giang province to thoroughly, responsibly and effectively implement the major policies of the Party and State, especially the Resolution of the 11th Conference of the 13th Party Central Committee. He emphasized the requirement to organize the implementation of policies that are close to reality, suitable to local conditions, and bring practical benefits to the people.

Regarding the organizational structure, the Vice President noted that the province needs to seek public opinions during the process of rearranging administrative boundaries, ensuring high consensus, maintaining social stability and improving the effectiveness of state management. At the same time, it is necessary to closely coordinate with An Giang province in organizing the apparatus after the rearrangement, effectively using the staff, maximizing human resources, and building a comprehensive strength for regional development.

Besides economic development, Kien Giang needs to continue to focus on ensuring national defense and security in the new situation; maintaining the people's hearts and security, especially in key border areas.

The Vice President also asked Kien Giang province to actively coordinate with the Central Government to thoroughly prepare for the APEC Summit 2027, thereby demonstrating Vietnam's role and position in the international arena. Along with that, the province needs to have a specific plan to organize the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South, National Reunification and major holidays, creating a vibrant competitive atmosphere, arousing pride and aspirations for development among the entire population.

The Vice President emphasized that the province needs to continue implementing social security policies, paying attention to the lives of policy families, people with meritorious services, cadres, soldiers, poor households and local people. The goal is for every citizen to feel the care of the Party and State and enjoy the fruits of the country's development, especially after half a century of complete national unification.

Within the framework of the program, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan presented 90 gifts to Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, policy families, poor households, and children in difficult circumstances in Giang Thanh district.
