The workshop is within the framework of the research task of the topic "Literature and art in promoting the image of the country and people of Vietnam to the world", under the Scientific Council of the Central Party agencies, organized by the project management board in coordination with experts and scientists on October 25 in Hanoi.

Introducing the workshop, Dr. Ngo Phuong Lan, Vice President of the Central Council for Theory and Criticism of Literature and Art, Head of the project affirmed: Literature and art is a very important and especially delicate field of culture; is an essential need, expressing the human aspiration for truth, goodness and beauty; is one of the great driving forces directly contributing to building the spiritual foundation of society and the comprehensive development of Vietnamese people.

In particular, through literary and artistic works, the Vietnamese people have been known as a heroic, intelligent, creative, resilient and indomitable nation in war. Today, Vietnam is known as a stable, safe and dynamic country, with a strong economic development; an attractive tourist destination with many scenic spots and unique cultures; Vietnamese people are hard-working, eager to learn, grasp problems quickly and have the spirit of overcoming difficulties. Literature and art have contributed to the strength, making the potential, position and prestige of Vietnam increasingly increase in the international arena. An image of a stable Vietnam, full of development potential, actively participating in building common peace with the world in the current context.

The scientific workshop "Promoting the role of literature and art in promoting the country and people of Vietnam" aims to mobilize the contributions of scientists, experts and managers in many different fields to contribute to the effective implementation of the work of promoting the image of the country and people of Vietnam to international friends, while providing scientific and practical arguments to serve the research topic "Literature and art in promoting the image of the country and people of Vietnam to the world". The presentations and opinions focus on researching, identifying and clarifying a number of theoretical, scientific and practical issues; providing lessons learned and successful models; researching and evaluating the current status of promoting the role of literature and art in promoting the image of the country and people of Vietnam and proposing solutions and recommendations for this issue.

Speaking at the workshop, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen The Ky, Chairman of the Central Council for Theory and Criticism of Literature and Art, emphasized the important role of literature and art in promoting the country and people of Vietnam and said that, in recent times, the image of the country, people and culture of Vietnam has been promoted through many literary, musical and cinematic works. However, to promote the promotion of the country and people of Vietnam through literary and artistic works, we need to innovate a lot. Through the workshop, thanks to the contributions from experts and researchers, the Council will have more theoretical basis and solutions to enhance the role of culture and art in promoting the country's image.

At the workshop, delegates also contributed many enthusiastic comments and opinions on the current situation and solutions to promote and effectively develop the role of literature and art in promoting the country and people of Vietnam.

Looking at literary works, especially translating Vietnamese literary works into other languages ​​and publishing them internationally, critic Hoai Nam emphasized that in order to "promote the image of the country and Vietnamese people" in the current context, we must build and develop a "reverse translation" organization of Vietnamese literature equivalent to the "World Literature Translation Institute" of Korea. They focus on translating outstanding and notable works of Korean literature into foreign languages, especially the "strong" languages/scripts in the world. If we build and develop such a "reverse translation" agency/organization, then translating and introducing the values ​​of Vietnamese literature - from medieval to modern and contemporary - will truly be a highly proactive activity. And the more proactive, the more effective in promoting the image of the country and Vietnamese people through literature.

Sharing from the perspective of someone with many years of experience working with the Motion Picture Association of America, Ms. Phan Thi Cam Tu believes that there should be more effective activities for young people, especially in guiding, supporting, and accompanying young people in creative activities to have more works that meet international criteria, and at the same time be more proactive in promoting the image of the country and people of Vietnam through literary and artistic works.

Affirming that the proactive promotion of the country and people of Vietnam in recent times has been modest, Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Khanh Thanh, Vice Chairman of the Central Council for Theory and Criticism of Literature and Arts, said that to promote this activity, we need to invest more, more systematically and effectively in this activity and must determine that this is a long-term and useful activity...

Speaking at the workshop, Ms. Nguyen Phuong Hoa, Director of the Department of International Cooperation (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) emphasized that there needs to be regular, continuous and worthy investment in translation work so that Vietnamese literary works can more easily reach international readers. Along with that, Ms. Nguyen Phuong Hoa said that fields such as painting, fine arts or photography should aim for major awards, so that Vietnamese works can be displayed in museums and large-scale exhibition spaces around the world.

In addition to investment from the state, the Director also expressed the opinion that all art forms need to flexibly apply current science, technology and digital techniques so that Vietnamese literature and art can reach more audiences.
