In the trading session on August 7-8, the market continued to show gains thanks to the unexpected surge in Vingroup 's stock group. However, overall, the market remained cautious, gradually retreating back into negative territory during the trading session.

At the close of trading, the VN-Index rose 5.6 points, closing at 1,215 points. Trading volume on the HOSE decreased, with 510.2 million shares traded.

The VN30-Index, a basket of large-cap stocks, rose 0.77 points, closing at 1,253 points. Ten stocks in the group increased in price, including VHM (+6.9%), VRE (+5.9%), GVR (+3.8%), etc. Conversely, 14 stocks decreased in price, including TCB (-2.2%), VPB (-1.9%), SSB (-1.8%), etc.

Many stock groups maintained positive gains, but there was divergence among stocks. The Vingroup group saw good gains, helping to support the market's upward trend. Food, oil and gas, and technology groups also contributed to the market's recovery. The banking sector, however, performed poorly and retreated.

It is expected that the 1,220-point level will continue to put selling pressure on the market in the coming period, and the risk of further declines remains.

"Investors should be cautious given the market's instability and avoid chasing rising prices. They should also consider market rallies to take profits or restructure their portfolios to minimize risk," Rồng Việt recommends.

"Investors should continue with T+ trading strategies, while strictly adhering to investment rules regarding stop-loss and take-profit points to protect profits. Some sectors worth considering for stock selection include oil and gas, retail, and chemicals," VCBS recommends.
