Speaking at the conference, the Deputy Minister of Health said: Infection control is one of the important pillars in ensuring patient safety, quality of medical services and the health system's response capacity to infectious diseases. In recent times, the health sector has made many efforts to improve the system, build a legal corridor, develop human resources and deploy many techniques on infection control. However, there are still many difficulties in infection control such as: The difference in resources and capacity between medical examination and treatment levels; the awareness of compliance with procedures of a part of medical staff and patients, patients' families is still limited; in particular, the situation of antibiotic resistance and the threat of multi-drug resistant bacteria is increasing.

The above challenges require stronger, more coordinated and timely actions. Therefore, the Ministry of Health has developed and issued the National Action Plan on Infection Control for the period 2025-2030. The plan aims to: Strengthen the capacity of the management system and policies on infection control; raise awareness and capacity of health workers; improve infrastructure and equipment for infection control; strengthen the surveillance system, promote scientific research, international cooperation and application of technology in infection control./.
