According to the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association (VPSA), pepper prices are higher than in previous years, benefiting garden owners. However, this year many farmers have made big profits from durian and coffee, leading to pepper hoarding, making raw materials scarce even during the peak harvest season. Processors are forced to use their inventories to ensure timely delivery of signed export orders.
Many people hoard pepper waiting for prices to increase, leading to a situation where pepper prices at the farm gate are sometimes higher than raw material prices at export producers. The current situation will make business more difficult if farmers continue to limit the sale of raw materials to the market.
It is forecasted that the world's demand for pepper will remain high, pushing pepper prices to maintain their upward momentum in the coming time.

According to experts, the fact that many people are hoarding pepper in anticipation of higher prices has led to the situation where pepper prices at the farm are sometimes higher than the raw material prices at exporting producers. The current situation will make business more difficult if farmers continue to limit the sale of raw materials to the market.
According to statistics, Vietnam currently has more than 110,000 hectares of pepper cultivation, with an average yield of 26 quintals/ha, twice as high as the global average. The Ministry of Agriculture and Environment has developed and approved the Project on developing key industrial crops, in which the pepper industry is expected to maintain an area of about 80,000 - 100,000 hectares by 2030, with an output ranging from 200,000 - 300,000 tons.
The goal set for 2030 is that about 40% of pepper growing area in our country will meet GAP standards, 40 - 50% of the area will be granted growing area codes with product traceability.
