At the Tan An City roundabout on the evening of April 29, traffic density was heavy. A large number of vehicles from Ho Chi Minh City headed to the West, causing this area to become a bottleneck. Although vehicles still tried to move, local congestion occurred at intersections on National Highway 1.
Vehicles "queue" waiting for the red light at the intersection of Tan An City bypass
Along National Highway 1, from Ben Luc District – which is directly adjacent to Ho Chi Minh City – to Tan An City, the speed of vehicles has decreased significantly. Many areas in Ben Luc District have witnessed prolonged traffic jams in the direction of the Western provinces, causing a lot of fatigue for people on their journey home.
Vehicles move slowly in both directions on National Highway 1, through Ben Luc district.
Mr. Nguyen Van Duc (Mo Cay Nam district, Ben Tre province), a local who was struggling in the traffic, shared: "The road is more crowded than I could imagine! I left Ho Chi Minh City at 4 p.m., thinking that leaving early would be better, but at 8 p.m. I was still in Long An. Everyone was rushing home for the holiday, so I had to accept the slow traffic."
Not only National Highway 1, the same situation also occurred on National Highway 62 and National Highway N2, other important routes through Long An province to connect with the western provinces such as Tien Giang and Dong Thap were also congested. Until the morning of April 30, traffic volume on these routes remained at a very high level.
Faced with the complicated traffic situation, the Long An Provincial Traffic Police force has deployed maximum personnel, increased patrols, control and traffic guidance at hotspots.
Blockades are set up at important intersections, roundabouts and areas at high risk of congestion to carry out traffic diversion and regulation, trying to minimize congestion and ensure safety for people.
Kien Binh Commune Police (Tan Thanh District) on duty at National Highway 62
Lieutenant Colonel Le Tran Thanh - Head of Kien Binh Commune Police (Tan Thanh District), said: "We have predicted that the traffic situation will be complicated during this holiday and have had a response plan. The commune police force coordinates with the provincial traffic police to be on duty at important intersections. We recommend that people stay calm, give way to each other when participating in traffic and absolutely follow the instructions of the authorities so that the journey home is safe and smooth."
The holiday is still long, and the traffic flow to the West through Long An is forecast to remain high in the coming days. People and vehicles traveling through this area need to proactively grasp traffic information, choose a reasonable travel time frame, and strictly comply with traffic laws to avoid congestion, ensuring safety for themselves and those around them./.
