The tournament is an opportunity for managers and experts to review and evaluate the development of the kickboxing movement nationwide. At the same time, it is an opportunity for the national team's coaching staff to re-evaluate the performance of the team members and select new players, preparing for the 33rd SEA Games later this year.

According to Head of Boxing and Kickboxing (Vietnam Sports Department) Dam Cong Dien, in preparation for the 33rd SEA Games, the tournament will have 3 out of 4 SEA Games competitions organized to create conditions for national team athletes to have the opportunity to compete and help the team's coaching staff find more talent to prepare for the largest sports event in the region. These contents are also included to increase the attractiveness of the tournament. In the 3 SEA Games competitions organized, full contact, lowkick, k1, k1 is the content in which Vietnam has just had martial artist Trieu Thi Phuong Thuy, excellently passing the qualifying round, winning a ticket to the World Games, held in August this year in China.

“This is the most difficult, attractive and fierce content of Kickboxing with knee strikes, requiring fighters to have good physical strength, courage and high professional level. Including this content will increase the attractiveness of the tournament, better serving the needs of viewers”, said Mr. Dam Cong Dien.

The 2025 National Kickboxing Championship will have the participation of nearly 400 athletes from 38 participating units. The fighters will compete in low kick in 12 men's weight categories (from under 45kg to under 91kg) and 9 women's weight categories (from under 46kg to under 75kg). Full contact will compete in 10 men's weight categories (46kg to 75kg) and 7 women's weight categories (46kg to 69kg). The K1 content will organize 10 men's weight categories (45kg to 71kg) and 5 women's weight categories (48kg to 65kg). Fighter Trieu Thi Phuong Thuy (who has a place at the 2025 World Games) will participate in this tournament.

The tournament will take place from now until April 9, 2025. The competition arena will be located outdoors in Ba Ria-Vung Tau so that fans have the opportunity to cheer on the fighters directly.
