EU initiates anti-dumping investigation into hot-rolled steel from Vietnam
After more than a month of receiving the request, the European Commission (EC) has just announced the initiation of an anti-dumping investigation into some hot-rolled steel products originating from Egypt, India, Japan, and Vietnam.

The Department of Trade Remedies ( Ministry of Industry and Trade ) said that on August 8, 2024, the European Commission (EC) issued a notice initiating an anti-dumping investigation into some hot-rolled steel products originating from Egypt, India, Japan and Vietnam imported into the European Union (EU).
Thus, just over a month after receiving the Request Document from the European Steel Association, the EC has officially announced the initiation of an investigation into hot-rolled steel products from the above markets.
Anti-dumping investigation period: From April 1, 2023 to March 31, 2024. Injury investigation period: From January 1, 2021 to March 31, 2024.
The EC also announced a number of exclusions, including: Grain-oriented stainless steel or silicon electrical steel; Tool steel and special hardened tool steel; Steel not in coils, non-patterned, of a thickness greater than 10 mm and a width of 600 mm or more; and Steel not in coils, non-patterned, of a thickness of 4.75 mm or more but not exceeding 10 mm and a width of 2050 mm or more.
In the initiation notice, the EC provided details regarding the requesting party, the goods under investigation, the alleged dumping, the injury and causal relationship, the alleged intervention in the price of raw materials, the investigation procedure and related time limits, the provisions on the rights and obligations of the parties involved, and instructions on the procedures for uploading and posting documents on the EC's TRON electronic system.
The Trade Defense Department recommends that the Vietnam Steel Association (VSA), enterprises producing and exporting investigated goods carefully study the attached documents and information, fully cooperate with the EC to provide information and documents in accordance with the prescribed format and time limit, and regularly coordinate and provide information to receive timely support from the competent authorities.
