The Vietnam Volleyball Federation said it is waiting for the Department of Physical Training and Sports to issue a decision to call up the national women's volleyball team to train at the National Sports Training Center (Nhon) from April 20.

Previously, head coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet suggested the team gather on April 15. Although the gathering was 5 days later than expected, on the first day of gathering, the team is expected to be missing nearly half of the 24-member list, including 4 coaches and 20 athletes.

The reason is that 5 athletes of VTV Binh Dien Long An Club: athletes Tran Thi Thanh Thuy, Nguyen Khanh Dang, Vo Thi Kim Thoa, Nguyen Thi Tra My and Vi Thi Nhu Quynh are busy participating in the Asian Women's Club Championship - AVC Champions League 2025 taking place from April 20 to 27 in the Philippines.

The young athletes on the call-up list, Dang Thi Hong (Thai Nguyen), Vi Thi Yen Nhi and Bui Thi Anh Thao (Hanoi), also have to participate in the National A-Class Volleyball Tournament in Kon Tum until April 19, so it is difficult to gather on the right day.

In addition to the 8 athletes mentioned above, 3 assistant coaches Nguyen Thi Ngoc Hoa, Nguyen Trong Linh and Le Thi Hien are also expected to join the national team late. While Ngoc Hoa and VTV Binh Dien Long An are participating in the AVC Champions League, Mr. Trong Linh and Ms. Le Thi Hien are also leading BTL Thong Tin Dong Bac and Quang Ninh in the A-League.

Thus, it is expected that by early May, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team will have all 24 members on the call-up list.

However, the team under head coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet still has enough time for 6 weeks of training before entering the first tournament in 2025, the AVC Nations Cup (formerly the AVC Challenge Cup) taking place in June.

Bich Tuyen and her teammates are the defending champions of this tournament for 2 consecutive years. With the advantage of playing at home in Dong Anh (Hanoi), the Vietnamese women's volleyball team aims to win the treble before heading to the remaining competitions in 2025.
