In particular, the number of applications for teacher training (pedagogy) increased by 85% compared to last year (equivalent to 200,000 applications). The total number of applications for natural sciences increased sharply (up 61%). In addition, the number of applications for national security and semiconductor design also increased compared to last year, up 46.5% and 30%, respectively.

According to Deputy Minister of Education and Training Hoang Minh Son, students’ current choice of major is closely and carefully advised on characteristics, career opportunities as well as the labor market. Based on the registered major of candidates, it can be seen that the demand for high-level human resources in society is increasing. This is consistent with the trend of socio-economic development of the country.

Regarding the teacher training group with a sudden increase in the number of registrations, Deputy Minister Hoang Minh Son said that this shows that students are more interested in the education sector, mainly thanks to the policy of supporting living expenses and tuition fees of the education sector.

The national security and defense sector has a special admission mechanism but always maintains stability in the number of registered wishes and is increasingly attractive due to flexible adjustments in admission methods. Particularly in the security sector, this year the number of candidates participating in the Ministry of Public Security's admission assessment exam is very large, with nearly 18,000 students.

Semiconductor design is predicted to be a growing industry and is in great need of human resources in the near future. In addition, this industry promises many career opportunities with attractive salaries; therefore, it is very attractive to candidates.

This year, the general admission system of the Ministry of Education and Training recorded more than 733,000 candidates registering for admission (equivalent to 68.5% of the number of candidates taking the graduation exam), an increase of about 73,000 compared to last year.

Of the nearly 400 training majors, divided into 24 fields, the most candidates registered for the business and management, engineering and technology groups. However, despite leading, the business and management group still saw a decrease of about 3% in the number of wishes (equivalent to 24,000) compared to last year; the computer and information technology group saw a decrease of 5% (15,000) wishes.

Currently, the Ministry's Admission System is performing virtual filtering to determine admission results. According to the plan of the Ministry of Education and Training, from 5:00 p.m. on August 17, higher education institutions will begin announcing admission scores for 2024. The announcement of admission scores must be done no later than 5:00 p.m. on August 19.

The Ministry of Education and Training notes: Training institutions require all admitted candidates to confirm their admission online on the system, before enrolling at the training institution.

Training institutions are not allowed to require candidates to confirm admission or enroll before August 19, 2024 and are not allowed to end admission confirmation or enrollment before 5:00 p.m. on August 27, 2024 (including for joint training programs with foreign countries).
