On January 25, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Minh (residing in Chinh Gian ward, Thanh Khe district, Da Nang city) said that he returned the money he found to the person who lost it, Mr. Pham Van Cu (56 years old, residing in Duy Tan commune, Duy Xuyen district, Quang Nam province).

Mr. Minh recounted that at around 11:30 a.m. on January 24, his father, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Binh, was stopping at a red light at Hoa Xuan Bridge (Cam Le District) when he picked up a package of money. Mr. Binh waited for a long time but no one came back to look for it, so he brought the package of money home and asked his son to post information on social media to find the person who dropped it.

Mr. Minh said that after counting, the amount of money his father found was 9.9 million VND. In addition, there was a piece of paper attached to the money with only information about the days of work as a construction worker, without any name or phone number.

“I thought the person who lost it was heartbroken because this was the salary he brought home to buy Tet, so I posted it on social media to find the person. After posting, many people contacted me to claim this money, but after verification, it was not true,” said Mr. Minh.

In the afternoon of the same day (January 24), a person called Mr. Minh claiming to be the nephew of the deceased, asking to return the property. However, this person said the amount of money was not correct, so Mr. Minh became suspicious and refused to return it.

"A moment later, Mr. Cu contacted me directly and told me the exact amount of money wrapped in the timesheet. He also told me the correct information on the sheet, so I knew I had found the right owner," said Mr. Minh.

According to Mr. Minh, at this time Mr. Cu had returned to his hometown in Quang Nam, so he asked his nephew, Mr. NTA (the person who initially called Mr. Minh) to come and receive the money.

Mr. Pham Van Cu shared that he came from his hometown to Da Nang city to work as a bricklayer. When Tet was near, the construction contractor asked him to come to Hoa Xuan bridge area to receive his salary.

“My salary was 9.4 million VND, the contractor gave me an extra 500,000 VND, making it 9.9 million VND. I was so happy that I quickly put the money in my warm coat pocket to bring home for my wife to buy for Tet. Unfortunately, I lost it. When I discovered it, I went back to look for it but couldn't find it," Mr. Cu recounted.

Thinking the money was gone, Mr. Cu ran back to his hometown in a daze and told his family. A few minutes later, a nephew went online and saw Mr. Minh's post looking for the owner of the lost money.

Mr. Cu looked at the photo and was delighted to see that it was indeed his valuable property, including two 200,000 VND bills and a timekeeping receipt, so he contacted Mr. Minh to ask for the money back.

"My nephew has received the money back. I am truly grateful to the person who found the money. This is a huge asset for my family right now. My family will not have to miss Tet this year...", Mr. Cu shared.
