Vietnam Airports Corporation and Phu Quoc International Airport achieved ISAGO certification on February 3, 2025, after successfully passing the IATA assessment with well-known quality control principles, implemented according to standardized and consistent international standards.

Previously, a team of IATA experts came to work and conduct a detailed assessment of ground service work at ACV and Phu Quoc International Airport according to international standards issued and implemented by IATA. Specifically, IATA experts assessed compliance with ISAGO procedures and standards on organizational structure, quality safety management system, security, training, maintenance procedures, and equipment maintenance.

At the same time, evaluate ground operations such as: Load control; passenger and baggage service; apron service; aircraft towing and pushing service; cargo service. Through checking the management system at ACV and evaluating the actual operating procedures and documents of Phu Quoc International Airport, all strict requirements and standards have been met.

IATA recognizes ACV and Phu Quoc International Airport achieving ISAGO certification. This is not only an inspection but also a global standard for ground safety in the aviation industry. The ISAGO program evaluates criteria ranging from operational procedures to risk management, training and equipment safety.

Achieving this certification means that ACV has achieved excellence in its ground operations. This achievement places ACV in the list of airport operators that place safety as a top priority. ISAGO and its compliance is not just an inspection exercise, but an ongoing commitment between registrations, accreditations and inspections, the standards must always be maintained and unchanged.”

Mr. Nguyen Duc Hung, Deputy General Director of ACV said: “ISAGO certification is an international recognition of ACV’s efforts and commitment to maintaining and improving ground operation safety standards. IATA leadership representative awarded ISAGO certificate to Phu Quoc International Airport leadership representative.

To obtain this certification, ACV has promptly implemented a plan to organize a training course on the ground handling assessment system and standards taught by senior management experts from IATA. The training content of the ISAGO course is an overview of the ground handling assessment system and standards according to IATA standards; requirements for the documentation system; an overview of the scope of professional services; preparation and assessment work; root cause analysis and corrective and preventive action plans...

Participants are well-trained and understand the ISAGO program and standards to build a coherent and consistent management system to ensure that the requirements of the standard are met; build a security, safety and quality management and control system; build a ground operations management and control system: operational process documents for all ground service provision areas including load control, passenger and baggage services, apron services, aircraft towing and pushing, and cargo services; build a document and record management and control system; build a training and coaching program and record management and control system; build a ground equipment management and control system, etc.

Launched in 2007, ISAGO is a safety performance assessment standard for ground handling units used by more than 290 units at nearly 300 airports worldwide. Developed by the International Air Transport Association (IATA), ISAGO aims to ensure that airport ground operations are carried out safely and efficiently. The ISAGO certification is a comprehensive assessment system for all airport ground operations of air transport and service operators.

This certification covers a range of standards and processes that companies must comply with to ensure safety and quality in airport ground handling operations, covering areas such as safety management, environmental management, human resource management and process management.

Following the development trend of the world, ISAGO has become a prerequisite for all future cooperation in the field of air transport. In addition, ISAGO certification also helps to create a common standard for the entire aviation industry. Air transport and service companies need to comply with ISAGO processes and standards to ensure consistency and safety in their operations in particular and the entire industry in general. This helps to minimize risks and enhance cooperation between companies in the aviation industry.

ISAGO certification is a recognition of the processes, procedures and operational management systems of a Ground Handling Company that have been assessed by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and found to be in accordance with the standards and current practices and recommendations specified in the ISAGO standards manual.

Station Accreditation is granted when the application of ground handling management processes, procedures and systems of the ground handling service provider is implemented at the Branch Port in accordance with the company's regulations and meets the requirements of ISAGO standards.
