Avoid "chronic" overload by registering via the app
Bach Mai Hospital, the main facility on Giai Phong Street (Hanoi) has long been an overloaded "hot spot" of the health sector. Every day, thousands of patients from all over the country flock here, hoping to access high-quality medical examination and treatment services.
The hospital corridors are always crowded, the waiting areas for examination and testing are packed with people. This situation not only causes fatigue and frustration for patients but also puts enormous pressure on the medical team, doctors and medical staff.
Faced with this situation, Bach Mai Hospital has made efforts to implement many solutions, and the "Bach Mai Care" application is one of the latest steps. This application is expected to bring convenience to patients, contributing to reducing the burden on the hospital. One of the most outstanding features of "Bach Mai Care" is to register for an appointment in advance via the app and return medical examination results online.

The application allows patients to make appointments online, helping to reduce waiting time and increase initiative in taking care of their own health. Patients can receive test results and diagnostic images right on their smartphones without having to waste time and effort waiting, and help reduce the burden on the hospital, especially the results delivery area.
The application will notify when the results are available and the patient can view them anytime, anywhere. Patients can also easily track their own medical records and schedule follow-up visits.
Convenient for young people, "barrier" for elderly patients
The advantages are undeniable, but there are still some challenges such as accessibility for the elderly and those who are not familiar with technology when visiting Bach Mai Hospital. A quick survey at Bach Mai Hospital showed that many elderly patients are quite "hesitant" with this application.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Nhung, a 60-year-old patient, expressed: “Modern technology has developed to create many convenient applications. However, we are old people, and sometimes we do not know how to use smartphones, do not know where to install, where to see the results. I just hope that the hospital has more staff to give more specific and detailed instructions, which will be better for people like us.”
Mr. Truong Dinh Dung, 58 years old, shared: "I heard from the doctors that it is really convenient, but I am old and don't know how to use it."

The reality is that not all seniors own smartphones. For many, phones are just a means of making and receiving calls. Even with smartphones, downloading apps, registering accounts, and operating apps is still a big challenge for seniors who have little exposure to technology. Some medical apps have complex interfaces, small fonts, and difficult-to-use buttons, making it difficult for seniors with poor eyesight or slow hands and feet. Many seniors are still used to traditional forms of communication and receiving information, and are not ready to switch to online channels.
For "Bach Mai Care" to truly become an effective and comprehensive solution, Bach Mai Hospital needs to have synchronous solutions so that this application can reach all patients, especially the elderly and those who are not familiar with technology. The hospital needs to promote communication about the "Bach Mai Care" app to the people, especially the elderly, through many different channels (leaflets, posters, loudspeakers, direct instructions at the hospital...)...
The "Bach Mai Care" application is a step in the right direction of Bach Mai Hospital in applying technology to reduce the burden and improve the quality of medical services. However, for this application to be truly effective and beneficial to everyone, more attention and investment is needed to meet the needs of all patients, especially the elderly.
