General Secretary visits Pansir Panjang port and exchanges education, science and technology strategies (Singapore)

According to the special correspondent of the Vietnam News Agency, within the framework of the official visit to Singapore, on the morning of March 13, General Secretary To Lam and a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation visited and worked at Pansir Panjang port - one of the most modern container ports in Southeast Asia, to learn about Singapore's seaport infrastructure development model.

At Pansir Panjang port, Mr. Nelson Quek, CEO of Southeast Asia and leaders of PSA Group Singapore - the operator of Pansir Panjang port, solemnly welcomed General Secretary To Lam and the Vietnamese delegation.

Mr. Nelson Quek gave an overview of the port's development process, outstanding achievements and future development strategy. Pansir Panjang Port is one of the world's leading automated ports, with remote control systems, container handling robots and intelligent management systems that help optimize operational processes, improve efficiency and minimize environmental impacts. Pansir Panjang Port is currently connected to nearly 180 large and small ports in 45 countries around the world.

General Secretary To Lam congratulated and highly appreciated the achievements of the port, saying that the maritime transport system and seaports play a very important role in ensuring Vietnam's trade goals.

On that basis, the General Secretary hoped that PSA would cooperate in developing the seaport system in Vietnam because Singapore's experience in this field is very valuable to Vietnam in the process of modernizing the seaport system and developing the logistics industry. The General Secretary suggested that in the future, Vietnamese students would be sent to study seaport operation and management technology. The PSA representative expressed his willingness to share experiences and strengthen cooperation with Vietnam, while highly appreciating the development potential of Vietnam's seaport and logistics industry in the future.

On the same day, at the National University of Singapore, General Secretary To Lam had a meeting and listened to the sharing about Singapore's education, science and technology policies with Education Minister Chan Chun Sing and leaders of Singapore's leading universities.

General Secretary To Lam thanked Singaporean Education Minister Chan Chun Sing for chairing the information and sharing session on Singapore's education and training system and some orientations for science, technology and innovation development that Singapore's leading universities are implementing, and agreed on the policy of promoting cooperation in training leaders for Vietnam to meet development requirements in the new era.

Appreciating Singapore's achievements in education and science and technology, General Secretary To Lam emphasized that the Vietnam-Singapore cooperation relationship has been upgraded to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, not only expanding but also improving the quality of cooperation, expanding cooperation in new areas such as digital transformation, green transformation, green VSIP and artificial intelligence. International cooperation plays an important role in helping Vietnam access the world's scientific and technological advances, including two strategic breakthroughs: training high-quality human resources and science and technology, digital transformation. The General Secretary welcomed cooperation between universities of the two countries; in which the programs and majors in the cooperation agreements are all very necessary fields for Vietnam.

The General Secretary asked Singapore's world-leading universities to support and share with Vietnam their experience in implementing cooperation between the state, universities and businesses to realize scientific and technological research that meets practical requirements.
