The Chinese veterans and experts who once helped the Vietnamese revolution are now in their sixties, but they continue their quiet work to foster the friendship between the two countries.
During Vietnam's struggles for national independence and unification, China was one of the countries that helped Vietnam with weapons, equipment, logistics, technology and human resources.
The Chinese veterans and experts who once helped the Vietnamese revolution are now all in their sixties, with gray hair, but they continue their quiet work to foster the friendship between the two countries.
Mr. Hoang Bach Thu - a veteran from Guangxi, said that he participated in helping the Vietnamese revolution for 5 years, Vietnam left many deep feelings for him. After completing his mission and returning home, he spent 30 years collecting documents on the relationship between the two countries, writing 22 books for future generations, in order to continue to inherit the friendship between China and Vietnam.
Mr. Hoang Bach Thu confided: “Vietnam has gained independence and developed, we feel very happy”. He expressed his belief that Vietnam will achieve the great goal of becoming a developed country on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the country’s founding.
Also a veteran who helped the Vietnamese revolution, Mr. Truong Van Ban - a native of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, recalled the days of revolutionary struggle side by side with the Vietnam People's Army. He expressed that the Chinese veterans and experts who helped the Vietnamese revolution are always ready to play their role in promoting the China-Vietnam friendship to pass on to future generations.
This veteran confided: “Although we are old now, we still do not forget the mission of Sino-Vietnamese friendship. All three generations of my family have devoted themselves to this work. I hope that the bilateral relationship will develop better and better under the guidance of the two countries' senior leaders.”
Mr. Wei Xiaoyi - son of Senior General Wei Guoqing, Head of the Chinese Advisory Group - emphasized that China and Vietnam have a long history of traditional friendship. Therefore, under current conditions, both sides need to continue to promote the glorious tradition, further consolidate the friendship between the two countries, help and support each other to develop and build socialism in each country.
Veterans, their relatives and Chinese experts hope that the two countries, “mountains connected, rivers connected” will always stand side by side, writing a new chapter for the Vietnam-China friendship. The flame of bilateral friendship will be continued and passed on from generation to generation, creating solidarity and attachment between the two peoples.
With that wish, the people of the two countries, especially the young generation, need to work together to firmly consolidate the social foundation for the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership and build a strategically significant Vietnam-China Community of Shared Future./.
