On the morning of April 22, the Provincial Veterans Association held a meeting with outstanding veterans and former youth volunteers who participated in the resistance war against the US to save the country on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day on April 30 (1975-2025).

Attending the meeting were comrade Nguyen Thi Hanh, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; former provincial leaders, leaders of departments, branches, sectors, and organizations; People's Armed Forces Heroes and 231 delegates who are outstanding war veterans and former Youth Volunteers representing 23,000 war veterans and former Youth Volunteers of Quang Ninh Mining Region who directly participated in the resistance war against the US, contributing to national liberation and reunification.

At the meeting, delegates reviewed the glorious victories of our army and people in the resistance war against the US to save the country; and the achievements in socio-economic development after 50 years of liberating the South and reunifying the country.

During the 21-year resistance war against the US, over 23,000 cadres, soldiers of the armed forces and youth volunteers of Quang Ninh province directly participated in the war, contributing to the liberation of the nation and the unification of the country. The Coal Corps had nearly 2,000 soldiers, but by the time of total victory, there were less than 200 people left. The whole province had over 8,000 martyrs, the children of the Mining Land, who fought bravely and sacrificed on all battlefields, over 4,000 wounded soldiers, 1,000 sick soldiers, and 5,000 victims of Agent Orange. Quang Ninh had 68 American-killing heroes, 8 armed forces heroes; the armed forces of Quang Ninh province were twice awarded the title of People's Armed Forces Hero. This is an honor and a source of pride for the people of the Mining Region.

After completing their glorious mission and returning to their localities, the soldiers have promoted the tradition of "Uncle Ho's soldiers" and actively participated in protecting the Party, the government, the socialist regime and the people; participated in patriotic emulation movements associated with studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and lifestyle. Up to now, the whole province has 55,000 War Veterans Association members and 10,000 former Youth Volunteers, including thousands of outstanding War Veterans holding important positions in the political system at all levels of the province.

Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Hanh expressed her respect and deep gratitude to the heroic martyrs, heroic Vietnamese mothers, war veterans, and former youth volunteers who participated in the resistance war against the US, who fought bravely, sacrificed, and contributed to regaining independence and freedom for the Fatherland.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee shared the special significance of 2025, the year of accelerating the successful implementation of the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress, organizing Party Congresses at all levels, preparing for the 14th National Party Congress; the province's determination to strive to maintain and continue to promote economic growth, well resolve social issues, firmly ensure national defense and security, and bring Quang Ninh to develop rapidly and firmly.

Promoting the spirit of the Great Victory of Spring 1975, in response to the requirements of the revolutionary mission in the new era - the era of the nation's rise, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee expressed his belief that the comrades of the War Veterans and former Youth Volunteers who participated in the fight against the US to save the country in Quang Ninh province, the War Veterans Association and the Association of Former Youth Volunteers will continue to promote the qualities of "Uncle Ho's soldiers", the tradition of their association, uphold the spirit of responsibility, solidarity, self-reliance, dynamism, creativity, strive to compete to successfully implement the Resolution of the 13th National Congress of the Party and successfully complete the goals and tasks set forth by the Resolution of the 7th National Congress of the Vietnam War Veterans Association, build a clean and strong Association, effectively contribute to the cause of building and defending the Fatherland, worthy of the trust of the Party, the State and the people.
