Meta on April 29 announced its first standalone artificial intelligence (AI) application in an effort to compete with ChatGPT, by providing users with direct access to its generative AI models.
In a video posted on Instagram, Meta CEO and founder Mark Zuckerberg said the new app is "designed to be your own personal AI" and will be accessed primarily through voice chats with interactions personalized for each user.
According to Meta, the new app also replaces Meta View as the companion app for Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses, allowing conversations to take place across multiple devices.
Meta's launch of generative AI comes as OpenAI continues to lead the way in consumer-facing AI through its ChatGPT assistant, which is regularly updated with new features./.
