Creating conditions for Vietnamese and Belarusian businesses to strengthen investment cooperation

The Prime Minister suggested that Vietnam and Belarus make efforts to promote bilateral economic and trade relations, which are still modest compared to their potential and strengths, and create conditions for businesses to cooperate and invest.

On the afternoon of April 2, at the Government headquarters, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus Anatoly Sivak on the occasion of his visit and work in Vietnam, co-chairing the 16th Session of the Vietnam-Belarus Intergovernmental Committee on economic-trade and scientific-technical cooperation, attending the Vietnam EXPO 2025 exhibition and the Vietnam-Belarus Business Forum in Hanoi.

At the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that Vietnam always treasures the traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation with Belarus, and expressed satisfaction with the positive developments in Vietnam-Belarus relations in recent times, especially in politics and diplomacy.

On this occasion, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his appreciation for Belarus' assistance and support for the struggle for independence, unification, and national construction and development; and thanked the timely assistance and support given to Vietnam during the COVID-19 pandemic, contributing to helping Vietnam soon restore socio-economic activities.

In order to effectively exploit the potential and strengths between the two countries, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh suggested that the two sides continue to increase delegation exchanges, especially at high levels, and cooperate at multilateral forums.

The Prime Minister suggested that both sides make efforts to promote bilateral economic and trade relations, which are still modest compared to their potential and strengths, and create conditions for businesses of both sides to increase investment cooperation; effectively maintain the Intergovernmental Committee mechanism and develop specific action plans with more appropriate and effective approaches.

The Prime Minister suggested that the two sides continue to strengthen cooperation in other areas, including security and defense; information technology, digital transformation, clean energy, industry, agriculture, education and culture; promote cultural cooperation and people-to-people exchange to enhance mutual understanding.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that education and training is a traditional field of cooperation, suggesting that both sides increase scholarship exchanges, especially in basic sciences, arts, and training high-quality human resources in professions that are in line with the world's development trends.

The Prime Minister suggested that the two sides promote cooperation in automobile production, agricultural machinery manufacturing, and railway transport development.

Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Anatoly Sivak expressed his pleasure to lead a high-ranking delegation of the Belarusian Government to Vietnam for the first time in his capacity as Deputy Prime Minister, to attend the bilateral Intergovernmental Committee Meeting and participate in many other important activities to promote cooperation between the two countries, especially in the fields of economy-trade and science-technology between Vietnam and Belarus.

Deputy Prime Minister Anatoly Sivak stressed that Belarus highly appreciates Vietnam's role in Southeast Asia and the Asia-Pacific region; Belarus's senior leaders are very interested in and wish to promote cooperation in many fields with Vietnam, for sustainable development and practical benefits of the people of the two countries.

The Deputy Prime Minister agreed with the Prime Minister’s assessments of bilateral relations and orientations to enhance cooperation in the coming time; said that the Belarusian people consider Vietnam a friendly country with many historical connections and wish to promote tourism cooperation with Vietnam.

The two sides agreed to direct ministries, local sectors and businesses of the two countries to actively implement agreements from recent visits and meetings between high-ranking leaders of the two countries, as well as the outstanding results of the 16th meeting of the Vietnam-Belarus Intergovernmental Committee on economic-trade and scientific-technical cooperation to further promote all aspects of cooperation between Vietnam and Belarus./.
