The Women's Union of Ta Rut Commune, Dakrong District, Quang Tri Province, recently coordinated with the Plan Project Management Board to organize a festival to honor the role of women in the community and in efforts to respond to climate change.
The event is part of the “Moving Forward” program implemented locally by Plan International Vietnam, with funding from the Embassy of Ireland in Vietnam.
The festival attracted 216 direct participants with many exciting activities including: folk dance competition “Green Dance”; archery competition – preserving traditional cultural beauty; culinary competition “Full of love”...

Not only a cultural and sports festival, the event also creates an opportunity for the community to discuss gender norms and raise awareness about the roles of men and women in responding to climate change.

Ms. Ho Thi Doi, Head of the Women's Association of Ta Rut 1 village, said: "I am very happy to participate in this communication campaign with many activities such as archery, culinary, and folk dance competitions. I also heard useful information related to climate change. Through this, we also understand more about the roles of women and men in the family and community. Through the competitions, I see that there is no distinction between men and women, everyone can do the things they love such as cooking or dancing and singing...".
Also within the framework of the “Moving Forward” program, Plan International Vietnam coordinated with the Women’s Union of Xin Man District (Ha Giang Province) to organize a women’s football tournament “For Green Goals - Kicking Out Gender Stereotypes”. The tournament attracted the participation of 60 female players from 18 communes and towns and nearly 400 spectators to cheer.
