High-tech agricultural development

Ms. Nguyen Thi Van, Chairwoman of the Farmers' Association of Hoa Vang district, said that along with supporting farmer members to participate in restructuring the agricultural sector, converting the structure of crops and livestock, the Farmers' Association of the district has promoted the construction of specialized production areas, high-tech agricultural production, organic agriculture, and linking product consumption. At the same time, implementing the emulation movement to build new rural areas, advanced new rural areas towards urbanization and environmental protection. Thanks to that, many clear results have been achieved in transforming the economic structure, developing household economy, hill gardens, renovating mixed gardens, building model gardens, etc.

In particular, farmers' associations at all levels proactively coordinate with relevant departments and branches to organize seminars, training courses on agricultural, forestry and fishery extension, and transfer science and technology to farmers growing high-quality flowers through the application of high technology in concentrated flower production areas of Duong Son (Hoa Chau), Go Gian (Hoa Phong), Van Duong flower cooperative (Hoa Lien); deploying models of tray-planting, fertilizer spraying by drones in Hoa Tien, Hoa Chau, Hoa Phuoc and Hoa Bac communes. "Activities to support farmers in accessing science and technology have gradually formed models of agricultural production applying high technology and modernity in rural areas," Ms. Van shared.

In order to support farmers in digital transformation in production and consumption of goods, the District Farmers' Association guides agricultural production households, individual business households, farms, cooperatives, cooperative groups, and agricultural production enterprises to participate in the OCOP program and register to participate in e-commerce platforms to promote and introduce products on new distribution channels, boosting the consumption of agricultural products on e-commerce platforms. To date, 59 products have registered to participate in e-commerce platforms, promoting the digital economy of rural agriculture. The whole district has 2,358 households achieving the title of "Excellent Farmers in Production and Business at all levels" and building a number of typical models with high economic efficiency.

Promoting the role in building new rural areas

Implementing the policy of "The State and the people work together" according to the motto "People know, people discuss, people contribute, people do, people manage and people benefit", the associations at all levels coordinate with the government, the front and mass organizations to create conditions for farmers to participate in giving opinions on the level of mobilization of contributions to build new rural areas and proactively participate in supervising the management, use and maintenance of works. Farmers in the district contribute tens of billions of VND and thousands of working days to build new rural areas; each farmers' association builds and manages bright - green - clean - beautiful rural traffic routes. Thereby, promoting the role of farmers as the main subject in building new rural areas, contributing to perfecting the rural infrastructure system, making the countryside modern, basically meeting the living needs of the people.

By the end of 2024, Hoa Vang district will have 11/11 communes meeting advanced new rural standards, 2 communes of Hoa Phong and Hoa Phuoc meeting model new rural standards. Hoa Vang district was recognized by the Prime Minister as a district meeting new rural standards and 23 villages were recognized as model new rural villages. Mr. Bui Dung, Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Hoa Phong commune, said that in 2024, the association will deploy the construction of the Bo Ban model rural road associated with the construction of a unique cultural village with a total cost of 98 million VND; of which the Farmers' Association and farmers contributed 18 million VND. The model rural road is 600m long and has 140 pots of bougainvillea. The association mobilizes members to develop agriculture associated with eco-tourism; produce fragrant sticky rice to make traditional cakes such as rice paper, banh it, banh goi and grow more than 4 hectares of safe vegetables and chili in Bo Ban village to serve people and tourists.

In addition, the Farmers' Association at all levels regularly mobilizes cadres and members to participate in environmental protection activities and proactively respond to climate change in conjunction with projects such as building "Hoa Vang - Environmental District", "4 Safe City". Each association base implements a new environmental model, builds 1km of civilized road, and plants trees associated with the environment. The Farmers' Association at all levels builds 26 environmental protection models, including 12 agricultural production models associated with environmental protection; builds and maintains 105 self-managed farmers' groups to protect the environment.

In particular, from 2022 to 2024, the District Farmers' Association will implement the project "Propaganda and mobilization of farmers to treat waste in Vietnam, contributing to the international community's efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions" of the Waste Treatment Project Management Board under the Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Department, Central Vietnam Farmers' Association. The communes of Hoa Tien, Hoa Chau, Hoa Khuong, Hoa Lien, and Hoa Son have implemented a model of utilizing organic waste such as straw, stubble, leftover food, and livestock waste using biological products to turn agricultural by-products into organic fertilizers for crops and livestock feed, initially bringing positive results.
