Scientific Integrity Group Resurrected After 4 Days of Sudden Disappearance
At around 3:30 p.m. today, October 27 (Vietnam time), the Scientific Integrity group on Facebook resumed normal operations.
According to the administration of the Scientific Integrity group, the administration has not yet received any notice or warning from Facebook through any form of communication.
"When we tried accessing the Scientific Integrity group again, we found that the group was operating normally again. All posts and comments in the group were not lost. It is possible that after the press reported that the Scientific Integrity group suddenly disappeared, Facebook reviewed and reopened the group.
We will have an announcement soon to let everyone know what happened in the past 4 days and thank the many people in the community who helped restore the group; at the same time, share the plan to reform the activities to make the Scientific Integrity group more sustainable, professional, effective and rewarding.
We will continue to work with Facebook to find out the truth about the large-scale attack on the Scientific Integrity group (report), thereby avoiding a recurrence of the incident," the group's administrator representative added.
At the same time, the management board of the Scientific Integrity group said that the group has now been restored, and the management board is evaluating and reviewing the group's activities over the past 4 years.
Dr. Duong Tu - a researcher at Purdue University (USA), who founded the Scientific Integrity group - added: "We have discussed and agreed to make comprehensive and profound changes to the organization, model and method of operation so that the Scientific Integrity group becomes more sustainable, professional, effective and beneficial.
We are always determined to contribute to building a cleaner and more transparent Vietnamese scientific community."
"Criticism is the motivation for the group to change, to become a better version"
Previously, Tuoi Tre Online reported that the group 'Scientific Integrity' suddenly disappeared on Facebook. The sudden disappearance of the Scientific Integrity group is attracting great attention in the Vietnamese scientific community and has received many mixed opinions.
Many opinions say: "Currently, many people are still interested in the universal and useful values that Scientific Integrity brings to the scientific community, the useful information and valuable multi-dimensional perspectives."
Reader Tuan HN commented: "The group has exposed the wrongdoings and violations of many people and organizations, so they will be hated. Many individuals who buy and sell articles and create false reputations for universities have been exposed. Without this forum, just filing a complaint will only be forgotten."
However, there are also opinions that: "A group of Scientific Integrity has been transformed, gradually becoming a place to bring each other down, insulting the honor of individuals and even domestic universities."
In response to the above comments, the group's management representative said: "We are not surprised that some people who have been questioned and criticized for their integrity violations have a negative attitude and seek to accuse, label, and slander the group. However, we still listen and consider these criticisms as motivation to change and become a better version."
