This year, Vietnamese people will have 3 days off for the Hung Kings Commemoration Day. Because the number of days off is limited and the holiday is close to the April 30 - May 1 holiday, many families choose to travel nearby within the country. Many famous tourist destinations such as Ha Giang, Da Nang, Ba Ria - Vung Tau... have recorded a surge in the number of visitors.
According to Lao Dong in Phu Tho, tens of thousands of people and tourists came to the Hung Temple historical relic site to offer incense in memory of the Hung Kings on April 6. All the roads leading to the foot of Nghia Linh mountain were packed with people. Electric cars were operating at full capacity, refreshment and rest stops were crowded, and visitors were coming and going continuously...
In Hanoi, a large number of visitors flocked to Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square and the area surrounding the Shark Jaw building, following the news that the building would be demolished from April 7. Visitors came here to stroll along the walking street and take check-in photos with the famous building before it was officially demolished.
Another popular attraction during the holiday is the Vietnam Military History Museum. During the holiday, the museum only receives visitors one day during the holiday on April 6, is closed on April 4 and 5 during the national mourning period, and is closed on Monday, April 7, according to the weekly schedule. Therefore, the number of visitors to the museum on Sunday, April 6, increased dramatically, many of whom came in groups.
Khanh Linh, a tourist from Hanoi, visited the museum on the afternoon of April 6 and said that there were many groups of visitors, mostly students from primary to high school. She decided to leave early and move to another museum with fewer visitors to ensure a more complete visiting experience.
On travel groups, many tourists shared images of traffic jams and long queues at famous destinations in Sa Pa (Lao Cai) and Ha Giang. The weather in the North during the holiday season is cold and rainy, but many tourists still choose to visit these destinations.
The Hue City Department of Tourism forecasts that the number of visitors to the city in 4 days (from April 4 to April 7, 2025) is estimated at 105,000. Of which, the number of overnight guests is estimated at 38,000, the room occupancy rate during the Hung Kings' Commemoration Day holiday in 2025 is estimated at 85%. In particular, the room occupancy rate for Friday night (April 5) is nearly 95%, and for Saturday night (April 6) is nearly 90%. Tourism revenue is estimated at VND214 billion.
Before the holiday, accommodation establishments also conducted training, improved the service quality of their staff, renewed their culinary menus, and offered suitable incentive programs to attract tourists.
In Da Nang, Sun World Ba Na Hills tourist area welcomed a record of more than 31,500 visitors on April 6. The number is 3 times higher than the same day in 2024 and surpasses the record in 2019.
Nui Than Tai Hot Spring Park (Hoa Vang district, Da Nang city) also recorded nearly 4,000 visitors on the first day of the holiday, and is expected to increase in the following holidays.
During the Hung Kings Commemoration Day holiday this year, there were up to 4 high-speed trains carrying about 1,300 passengers to Phu Quy Island (Binh Thuan). From April 4 to April 6, the number of passengers to the island was about 4,000, a significant increase compared to normal days.
To meet the demand of visitors to Phu Quy Island during the Hung Kings' death anniversary, Superdong Phu Quy high-speed ferry has operated 3 trips from Phan Thiet to the island every day from April 5 to 7.
Vung Tau City People's Committee recorded that the city welcomed about 49,000 people swimming on April 6, half of the peak day of Tet (95,000).
Previously, on the first day of the April 5 holiday, the entire Ba Ria - Vung Tau province was estimated to welcome more than 54,000 visitors, with total revenue of more than 49.8 billion VND. According to the Vung Tau City Tourist Management and Support Center, an estimated 26,000 people came to enjoy swimming at Bai Sau Beach.
Mr. Bui Thanh Tu - Marketing Director of Best Price, commented that the number of tourists during the Hung Kings' Commemoration Day holiday this year was not high, as predicted. The reason is that most Vietnamese tourists prioritize the 5-day holiday on April 30 - May 1.
In addition, the number of visitors to some tourist areas and events was affected when on April 4 and 5, Vietnam stopped organizing all public entertainment activities and performance events to commemorate former Lao President Khamtay Siphandone.
However, the positive number of visitors these days is a positive sign, showing that visitors have a high demand for travel, promising a boom in tourism during the April 30 - May 1 holiday.
